HUSSEIN OBAMA WHO?

The Foreign Policy Question

OBAMA wants us to believe that because he lived in Jakarta, Indonesia when he was 6 attending a local school and because he had a Kenyan father he is uniquely Foreign Policy qualified.
GET SERIOUS!! GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE!!

There are about 30 International Schools in Jakarta, a major international city, like the New York of Southeast Asia, a major financial hub. See, http://www.indoindians.com/education/inter_school.htm
He went to a local school because very likely his parents could not afford to send him to one of the international ones. Just a hunch. Plus, because his Step-Dad had a fascination with the Mosque culture, they probably thought it was cool.

I knew someone who went to an International School in Jakarta. I knew her at the American School in London, England where I went. She wasn't a foreign policy knowledgeable person. She ended up being a third rate fashion model. There are Americans living in every country in the world. There are huge numbers of ex-patriots (xpats) living in almost every major city of the world. They have English speaking schools for the British and American kids in almost EVERY major city. Jakarta has the added benefit of being close enough to Australia that it has tons of Aussies there- more English speaking schools. If you don't go to the English speaking schools, it's because your parents prefer that you learn the local culture or they can't afford the private schooling.

Your El Salvadoran maid had an El Salvadoran Father, does that make her a Foreign policy genious about the entire world? It may mean she knows a bit about El Salvador. She may even know a bit about the airport in Miami. It doesn't give her any astuteness about Foreign Policy strategy.

Kenya is nothing like Ethiopia, South Africa, Cape Verde, Cote D'Ivoire, Senegal, or many other African countries. Contrary to appearances from afar, they are not all alike. Kenya is nothing like the other countries Obama never lived in (probably hasn't visited either) and never had a relative hailing from- like Belgium, Luxembourg, France, England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Finland, Russia, Croatia, Norway, Macedonia, China, Korea (North or South), Vietnam (North or South) Switzerland, Argentina, Benin, Togo, the Dominican Republic, or the Holy See. Just to name a few.

My Korean dry cleaner had a grandparent in the fields and rice patties of Korea. Doesn't make her a Foreign Policy guru. My favorite Italian grocer in New York had a grand parent who farmed in Southern Italy. Doesn't mean he knows squat about NATO. Doesn't even mean he knows much about Southern Italy.

PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE!!!!!!
What does he think-we are 12??

Next to Hillary's World Experience, OBAMA is 12.

THERE IS NO COMPARISON PEOPLE. She was involved in 8 years of foreign policy deliberations in the White House and has been in the Senate also. NO COMPARISON.

What does having a Kenyan father and going to elementary school in Indonesia have to do with strategic astuteness in matters of European Competition Law, trade deficits with China, Iranian nuclear threats, Venezuelas oil embargos, Bosnian reconstruction, Indian-Pakistani border issues, Kashmiri independence, Palestinian refugees, Israeli-Lebanese conflicts, Mexican border issues, humanitarian crisis of flooding in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Somali/Darfur genocide?

About as much as having a grandfather who farmed rice patties in Korea does.

He identifies with oppression living on a beach in Hawaii going to Harvard Law? Cry me a volcanic river. Your El Salvadoran maid's family fled a bloody civil war for their lives, the Italian grocer's family fled famine, my Irish roots fled famine and a sort of bloody civil war, the Ethiopian taxi driver fled an attack of Somalis, every person of German or Polish heritage here might have fled oppressive regimes whether Prussian, Nazi or Russian invasions, the local
Lebanese waiter fled a bloody civil war, and don't get me started on the women at the Vietnamese nail salon.

If he thinks that argument holds water, I think he inhaled too much.

I like this one:

Ten Commandments of the Priest's Wife
1. Do not guillotine my spirit on earth to call me blessed in heaven.
2 Do not build a basillica on my grave there to dance upon
3 Do not drink perfumed martini toasts to me at the wake with a holy whoredom of despirate women
as you shovel dirt on my coffin
4 Do not let your mother in
5 Do not look for my miracles when I am gone when you spat on their coming when I was here
6 Do not proclaim my arrival in Paradise in eulogy when you wouldn't even go back to Italy with me
7 Do not hail the second birth when you denied the first to all your hypothetical potential progeny
8 Do not look for me in heaven when you ran from me on this planet
9 Do not speak of grace, Damn it
and call me a Saint when I am gone
When you assumed me wrongly such a bold sinner all along.
10. Sing instead a very new song
And promise you will let love in as strong on earth as it is in heaven
And only then say Amen

--------------------AND WHAT DOES THE POPE HAVE TO SAY TODAY?

ITS ABOUT A POET! SAINT EPHREM

From the Vatican Information Service.......

EPHREM THE SYRIAN: THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF CHRISTIANITY

VATICAN CITY, NOV 28, 2007 (VIS) - Continuing his series of catecheses on Fathers of the Church, Benedict XVI today dedicated his general audience to the figure of St. Ephrem the Syrian, "the most famous poet of the patristic age." The audience was held in the Paul VI Hall in the presence of 8,000 people.

Before discussing St. Ephrem, the Pope remarked how "it is widely believed today that Christianity is a European religion which subsequently exported that continent's culture to other countries. But the truth is much more complex."

"The roots of the Christian religion," the Pope explained, "are in the Old Testament, hence in Jerusalem and the Semitic world. And Christianity constantly draws nourishment from these Old Testament roots. The spread of Christianity in the early centuries was directed both westwards - to the Greco-Latin world where it later inspired European culture - and eastwards to Persia and India, where it contributed to the formation of a specific culture, in Semitic languages and with its own identity."

Benedict XVI indicated that "in order demonstrate the one Christian faith's multiplicity of cultural form ever since its inception" he had chosen to focus his audience on St. Ephrem, a theologian and a poet who was born in Nisibis around the year 306 and died in Edessa in 373.

"Poetry," the Holy Father explained, "enabled him to deepen his theological reflections through the use of paradox and images."

"Ephrem gave poetry and liturgical hymns a didactic and catechetical character, ... so as to use liturgical feasts as opportunities to spread the doctrine of the Church."

Benedict XVI dwelt briefly on Ephrem's ideas concerning God the Creator, saying: "Nothing in the Creation is isolated and the world is - alongside Scared Scripture - a Bible of God. Using his freedom wrongly, man overturns the order of the universe."

For Ephrem, "Jesus' presence in Mary's womb greatly raised the dignity of women ... about whom he always speaks with sensitivity and respect," said the Pope. "Just as there is no Redemption without Jesus, so there is no Incarnation without Mary. And the divine and human dimensions of the mystery of our Redemption are already to be found in the saint's writings."

Honored in Christian tradition with the title of "harp of the Holy Spirit," Ephrem remained a deacon of the Church throughout his life. "This was a decisive and emblematic choice," said the Holy Father. "He was a deacon, in other words a servant in liturgical ministry and, more radically, in the love of Christ ... as well as in charity towards his brethren who, with great skill, he introduced to a knowledge of the divine Revelation."

Please Remember Me

When you Get There.

Today we heard the message of the Good Thief, Dimas, sometimes also referred to as Dumas or Dymas. (Dumas is a common french surname) http://saodimas.com.br/usa/quemera.htm
He was the guy who deserved to be hung by his toenails to a cross according to the laws of capital punishment Roman style 33 AD because he was a really bad actor. He was a serious Thief. So What's so Good about a Thief. Why is he possibly a Saint?

He recognized Jesus' innocence, and that he didn't deserve to be hung next to him. Moreover, he instinctively recognized that Jesus was going to be entering some sort of other Kingdom. He instinctively knew that there was a resurrection of some kind- that Jesus wasn't just going to die into oblivion-there wasn't "Nothing" after death-there was something Huge. There was a Kingdom waiting for him. "Jesus, remember me when you get into your Kingdom." Take me with you.

Jesus, who was mocked and scourged so his back resembled something like raw hamburger meat, was treated with utter contempt and subjected to brutal humiliation with a mock crown on his head made of thorns pressed into his bleeding forehead, with mocking taunting jeering crowds of Roman soldiers waiting for him to die, poking his side with a sword, didn't really look all that innocent strung up on the cross. (See the video below that breaks down his wounds from evidence on the Shroud of Turin.)
It kind of goes against the presumption to presume someone adjudicated to death by crucification (yeah, sure ,sure you are innocent, that's what they all say) is really totally completely innocent.

The fact that he was totally completely innocent makes him the only qualified true atonement for our sins. The Lamb Without Blemish.
He really did absolutely nothing deserving of death.

Looks are deceiving. Dimas knew instinctively he was innocent.
He told him- Please Remember Me, when you get there- to your Kingdom. Please don't forget me.

Jesus said- today you will be with me in Paradise.

It's another one of those Your Faith Saved you stories. But more than that- your faith has saved YOU- even though YOU are far from deserving of it- a thief, maybe not, but certainly a sinner. Mercy, for those who believe Jesus is who he said he was-Mercy, that saves you from yourself and the hard judgment you really deserve.
It's as though all Jesus wants is for us to acknowledge who he really is. Just BELIEVE ME. ACCEPT WHO I AM FOR YOU.

Say with me:

I believe You and I believe In You Totally.

I Know You are Innocent.

Please Remember Me when you get there.

Come Get Me and Take Me With You.

If you feel like adding -because life is meaningless without you-go ahead.
LIFE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT YOU.

The Shroud of Turin is what it says -a Shroud, a Jewish Burial Shroud that is now housed in a Basillica in Turin, Italy. There was clearly some high light phenomenon which blasted his image on this cloth after it was laid upon him-likely at his resurrection. The Shroud contains key clues about Jesus' death, particularly his bodily wounds at his death. You can see the trickles of blood from the crown of thorns, the blood marks on his wrists, the lash marks from his scourging. You can see that his nose clearly was broken. He was beaten across the Face. The very reflection of God, the Face of God. It always bothered me that his nose was broken in light of the prophetic passage stating that not one bone of his body would be broken (which is why the Romans did not club his legs at the crucification as they did to the others to hasten death on a cross) - until I remembered that a Nose is not Bone- think of a skeleton- the place where the nose is there is always a hole- it's cartiledge not bone. Not a bone in his body was broken as was prophesied.

Just Ordinary Time

When Gourmet looks like ordinary Meat Loaf and Heaven looks like the Boy Next Door.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

They shall build houses and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
They shall not build and another inhabit;
they shall not plant and another eat;
for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,
and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labor in vain,
or bear children for calamity;
for they shall be offspring blessed by the Lord--
and their descendants as well.
Before they call I will answer,
while they are yet speaking I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
the lion shall eat straw like the ox;
but the serpent--its food shall be dust!
They shall not hurt or destroy
on all my holy mountain,
says the Lord.

Happy Feast Day- Saint Hilary

of Poitiers.

It's All Saints Day. All Day. For All the Saints. Happy All Saints Day to You.
Including Saint Hilary of Poitiers. Who? Google him- I dare you.
I thought Hilary Clinton should take courage after that ridiculous bashem smashemknockem sockem robot disgrace of a debate the other night. Clean up your misogynist act people. We women don't like it. We are over 60% of the Democratic Party according to that home boy from Philly Chris Matthews. Not nice fellas.

In the early days of the Church, there was a dispute of some import concerning whether Jesus was really from God and thus of the same essence as God, as John indicated that in the beginning was the Word. It is pretty undisputed well established Christian doctrine now that In the beginning was the Word (logos, raison d'etre, telos) which was God and was with God such that not anything good made was made without him. He, the Lord was in the beginning, "coexistent and consubstantial" with God in the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Not so well established in the 4th Century however.
This fact/doctrine was disputed by the Arians, now considered heretical in the 300s AD. Saint Hilary took them to task and wrote how off their rockers they were. When anyone stands firm and tries to tell people how off their rockers they are, how out of the divine will and plan they are, they get bashed- persecuted, in Saint Hilary's case, banished even for a time.
He was recognized as brilliant and appointed the Bishop of Poitiers in France. There is a great University in that town now. What I love about him is that he was married with a daughter at the time that he was made a Bishop. He was made eventually (centuries later) one of the hallowed "Doctors" of the church. A married Bishop with a daughter. Nothing about being married with a daughter and having a wife apparently stopped the church from considering him utterly brilliant and necessary to the development of right doctrine as it pertained to fighting off the Arian heresy. Why would it?
Sometimes people with bold conviction get bashed- rockem sockem robot smashed. Usually their message gets distorted. Generally they get misquoted, defamed and targetted by jealous people who try to rockem sockem smash them.

But She Who Endures To The End Shall Be Saved. It's a promise.

The Bishop of Poitiers (Bishop being almost as big a deal as President) was exhiled, where he prolifically wrote witnessing the truth, eventually toured round back through Greece and Italy back to France and was eventually rightly reinstalled as the Bishop of Poitiers, France. He is credited with being the Father of Latin Hymns for having written volumes of them. Fun Fact about Saint Hilary- Anglican England even honors his memory in this fashion:

The spring term at the Law Courts in England and at Oxford University are named for him--the Hilary Term--as are at least three English churches.

Saint Hilary of Poitiers, Pray For Us.
