Please Remember Me

When you Get There.

Today we heard the message of the Good Thief, Dimas, sometimes also referred to as Dumas or Dymas. (Dumas is a common french surname) http://saodimas.com.br/usa/quemera.htm
He was the guy who deserved to be hung by his toenails to a cross according to the laws of capital punishment Roman style 33 AD because he was a really bad actor. He was a serious Thief. So What's so Good about a Thief. Why is he possibly a Saint?

He recognized Jesus' innocence, and that he didn't deserve to be hung next to him. Moreover, he instinctively recognized that Jesus was going to be entering some sort of other Kingdom. He instinctively knew that there was a resurrection of some kind- that Jesus wasn't just going to die into oblivion-there wasn't "Nothing" after death-there was something Huge. There was a Kingdom waiting for him. "Jesus, remember me when you get into your Kingdom." Take me with you.

Jesus, who was mocked and scourged so his back resembled something like raw hamburger meat, was treated with utter contempt and subjected to brutal humiliation with a mock crown on his head made of thorns pressed into his bleeding forehead, with mocking taunting jeering crowds of Roman soldiers waiting for him to die, poking his side with a sword, didn't really look all that innocent strung up on the cross. (See the video below that breaks down his wounds from evidence on the Shroud of Turin.)
It kind of goes against the presumption to presume someone adjudicated to death by crucification (yeah, sure ,sure you are innocent, that's what they all say) is really totally completely innocent.

The fact that he was totally completely innocent makes him the only qualified true atonement for our sins. The Lamb Without Blemish.
He really did absolutely nothing deserving of death.

Looks are deceiving. Dimas knew instinctively he was innocent.
He told him- Please Remember Me, when you get there- to your Kingdom. Please don't forget me.

Jesus said- today you will be with me in Paradise.

It's another one of those Your Faith Saved you stories. But more than that- your faith has saved YOU- even though YOU are far from deserving of it- a thief, maybe not, but certainly a sinner. Mercy, for those who believe Jesus is who he said he was-Mercy, that saves you from yourself and the hard judgment you really deserve.
It's as though all Jesus wants is for us to acknowledge who he really is. Just BELIEVE ME. ACCEPT WHO I AM FOR YOU.

Say with me:

I believe You and I believe In You Totally.

I Know You are Innocent.

Please Remember Me when you get there.

Come Get Me and Take Me With You.

If you feel like adding -because life is meaningless without you-go ahead.
LIFE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT YOU.

The Shroud of Turin is what it says -a Shroud, a Jewish Burial Shroud that is now housed in a Basillica in Turin, Italy. There was clearly some high light phenomenon which blasted his image on this cloth after it was laid upon him-likely at his resurrection. The Shroud contains key clues about Jesus' death, particularly his bodily wounds at his death. You can see the trickles of blood from the crown of thorns, the blood marks on his wrists, the lash marks from his scourging. You can see that his nose clearly was broken. He was beaten across the Face. The very reflection of God, the Face of God. It always bothered me that his nose was broken in light of the prophetic passage stating that not one bone of his body would be broken (which is why the Romans did not club his legs at the crucification as they did to the others to hasten death on a cross) - until I remembered that a Nose is not Bone- think of a skeleton- the place where the nose is there is always a hole- it's cartiledge not bone. Not a bone in his body was broken as was prophesied.
