"Christmas helps us to understand that God never abandons us and that He comes out to meet us, protects us and concerns himself with each one of us, because each individual, especially the weak and defenseless, is precious in the tender and merciful eyes of the Father".
Pope Benedict

On the occasion of his visit to the order founded by Mother Theresa: the Missionary Sisters of Charity
I heard a Priest/Monsignor today give a lecture in which he non-challantly noted that in consecration of the Eucharist he bumped up against the wings of an Angel. He said it as though it were typical, a usual occurrence- so ordinary he commented in passing. I wanted to say to the guy sitting in front of me- "Did he just say...???." He briefly explained, of course when the actual presence comes in transubstantiated form it is sometimes accompanied by angels (paraphrased). Why not. I might think this Priest a bit out there, but I know better. He is the Reverend Monsignor Vaghi who was a practicing attorney before ordination, a Fulbright scholar and graduate of the University of Virginia Law School who worked in Congress before attending Seminary in Rome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Vaghi
He is Pastor to the John Carroll Society http://www.johncarrollsociety.org/
and Pastor to some of the Higher Brow of Bethesda/Potomac life at the Church of the Little Flower (http://www.lfparish.org/) in Bethesda. The guy is as credible as they make them. There are ANGELS accompanying the presence at the Altar. Think about that one!!
He gave possibly the best exposition on the real presence of the Eucharist in a lecture series that is now on line. See this and some of his other talks here: http://lfparish.org/HL_SacCFC.asp
