I desire Love not Sacrifice

the Lord through Hosea said,

because the greatest of these is Love

Paul told those Corinthian dead

and even if you speak in the tongues

of angels and homilize and prophesize

with Solomonic wisdom and strength

If you have not love, you are but a breath

that flickers and gasps for air until

it's extinguished mid-prayer

because God is Love, and Love is God

and anything less is a bridge to nowhere.

So don't you dare confuse

Love with temptation

or insult the bearer of a pure heart

for you, and don't think God

will elevate white martyrdom

into heavenly realms

when you spit on Jesus in the person

right in front of you.

For God is Love and Love is God

And to reject one is to shun the other

and one cannot preach his greatness

while denying his essence

and expect that he smiles on such ignorance.

For God is Love and Love is God

and Love thus deserves the respect

due the Creator because Love is the force

that creates life and sustains it

against all the evil assaults prowling

to seek the ruin of souls.

So don't you dare confuse Love

with Temptation or derride

the bearer of a sacred heart

for you. Heaven and Earth

are full of his Glory

and some of it was sent

to be with you.
