On Federal Funding For Abortion There is absolutely NO constitutional right to federal funding in abortion. There is a law called the Hyde Amendment against it and there was an executive order when OBAMA had his back against the wall in the negotiations on obamacare regarding it. The DNC is now headed by Debbie Wasserman Schultz- a Emily's List A rater- a spit in the face of any pro-life Democrat, and the party is going to see how well that plays in 2012. There is absolutely NO Constitutional Right to Federal Funding in Abortion- it is absolutely sickening that the Democrats insist Planned Parenthood be anywhere in the budget. Inexcusable. A Republic

If You Can Keep It. America teeters back and forth between empire and republic. A constitutional republic has to follow the constitution. What that means keeps lawyers in business. What that does not mean, however, is that one guy called a President gets to take the whole country to war because he says so. Today the strangest bedfellows of disaffected alienated peace activists, catoesque libertarians, conservative republicans and a congressman (I am guessing an "R" ) on the Hill today, courtesy of Cato, met to discuss the constitutionality or lack thereof regarding the Libya air strikes and invasion. One panelist noted that Truman refused to call the Korean War a war, calling it instead an international police effort, and similarly offended the constitution. The congressman was more than a bit peaved that Obama thought he could take the US to war through international NATO treaty and UN fiat without congressional approval. This is not how it works in this Republic. The founders, he argued really did not want to create a country where a King could by fiat take the entire country at his whim or will to war. The War Powers Act, contrary to popular opinion does not give a President a window of 60 or 90 days to get Congressional approval- that time frame is not even invokable unless one of three conditions are first met to go to war -none of which have even purported to be the case in the libya scenario. One of the prongs is an imminent danger of attack on the US or its military forces. That was what all the pretext and made up nonsense about WMDs and yellow cake in Niger was about before Iraq. They were trying to create a pretext to go to War. Obama figured the country is too smart to be lied to again and his base wouldn't tolerate it so used the UN mandated humanitarian justification instead. On policy grounds some people are still with him because of how they percieve Khadaffi and his actions. Even some Republicans are still with him for attacking Libya. This Congressperson however is determined to give the President a wrist slapping for ignoring Congress before launching air strikes. Actions of a variety of punishments will be debated and efforts will be made to tie in cutting off funding with the new budget proposals that threaten to shut down the government by Friday. Empires go about the world starting aggressively military actions, bombing countries and taking out regimes. Republics have checks and balances- and are predicated on consent of the people. Obama did go to the Senate but not the House and Congress is bicameral. The House is Republican controlled so no wonder. Is it better to ask forgiveness than permission? And if it all works out in the end the way he wanted is the President going to care his wrist was slapped? Doubt it. There are BILLIONS of dollars of oil leases and frozen bank accounts now at stake, and the President might like some for his re-election campaign.

Washington Dc is full of status seekers. And the 'common man' (if ever man could be but common) is sick of it. The model rock star of all time without trying was Jesus. He didn't run a PR campaign -and in fact a lot of time after performing an astounding miracle he told people to hush up and not tell anyone and hid and prayed in the mountains by himself. Shhhhhh. I don't want to be mobbed. Jesus walked around the country doing unbelievable miracles on the sly. All the time. Could hardly get out of bed without doing something unbelievable. Which is why lots of people didn't believe him. Let's just take one example. He loved Mary and her sister Martha. We aren't sure what kind of love- any seriously matrimonial love that may have existed has in sexist fashion been written out of scripture, but he loved hanging out at their house and eating their food, sharing meals with them. They had a brother, Lazarus. After whom the train station in Paris is named - Saint Lazare. Lazarus it turns out died. His sisters naturally were besides themselves with grief. It appears that he was the only man of the house- we don't know where their father was, but we know this family unit- Mary, Martha and their brother Lazarus and Jesus liked coming over for dinner. Lazarus was dead it turns out for quite some time, he had already been embalmed with burial spices, wrapped in a burial cloth and stuck in a tomb, when Jesus heard about it. It is the one place in scripture where we learn that "Jesus Wept." Was he weeping because his brother in law died or because he knew Mary was grief stricken? Was Lazarus the keeper of the secrets between Mary and Jesus and how did he die? Did he die of some disease or did someone try to poison him. Did Jesus think he might have been killed because he was the keeper of the secrets between Jesus and Mary? Not to get too DAVINCI CODE on you, but people died all the time in ancient Israel under the Romans. Why do we know Jesus wept here? Jesus (you know the story) approaches where the tomb of Lazarus is and he loudly orders him to come out of it. "Lazarus come out"- With his WORDS he raised back to life a dead man. With his WORDS, he proclaimed it and it came to be. With his WORDS he recreated lost life. And after he did this he didn't issue a press release. Because when you save, when you raise the dead, when you recreate life, you won't be able to suppress the word getting out- everyone will know and be amazed. It's the opposite of Narcissism demanding vainly everyone look at you. It's giving an amazing gift of life giving words that then everyone can't stop talking about. Words create Life. Just like in the beginning when God Said let there be...and there was...over and over again.

Horns of a Dilemna Today at the Center for American Progress there was one Libyan defector who previously was an Ambassador to Khadaffi's regime and now wants regime change and is on the side of and part of the new provisional opposition counsel. He came peddling his cause for more arms. He doesn't want any foreign troops on the land. He says thanks to Quatar and the UAE and great thanks and applause to Obama without whom they would be doomed and have lost their shirts. He also wants all the frozen assets Khadaffi's family has in the US and in Britain and France believed to be combined over fifty billion dollars (dollar/euro equivalent). Looking like the biggest heist the world has seen where the US freezes assets, and turns it over to the side we like- with obvious apparent potential for dealing and wheeling over who gets what- 50 Billion of who gets what. Clearly, someone is going to get filthy rich off nuking Khadaffi's family and I can imagine who on this side of the pond is lining up for their share of democratic spoils. As for the arms dealers? Who besides Boeing is going to strike gold? Buy stock in Boeing now people. Oh-and the entire Army of CHAD has been hired as mercenaries for the Khadaffi side. Oh, and an Israeli company brokered the deal. We send in troops we are fighting the entire army of CHAD and a few other african countries--and we think we can come out with any limbs left? Maybe the US should take off the top the costs of the No Fly zone from the frozen assets. No response to the question asked by a reporter "Has anyone said that's legal?" Looks like a raid after a bomb throwing festival of a sitting sovereign ruler. The UN Resolution didn't demand regime change or challenge the sovereignty of Libya. This defector gave no room for mediation or compromise rebuffing all Khadaffi's family and sons. He said the Libyans are not tolerating any longer the "we rule you or we kill you" ethic of the Khadaffi family. This is what Obama means when he says Khadaffi has "lost all legitimacy." The problem is while the defector has a loud Microphone and sounds like he talks for "all the libyan people" the jury is still out on that one. All but the ones fighting for Khadaffi- and beating back the rebels city by city in some cases. All but the ones paid for by him.

If I told you that I met a man who saw a lake that his friends were fishing on and proceeded to step out into the water and did not sink, but kept walking on the water would you want to know who that was? How about a guy who picked up some dirt from the ground, spat in it, and rubbed in the eyes of a man congenitally blind from birth, who then washed it off, and could see everything. Would you want to know who that guy was who could do that? What if I told you he didn't have any medical degree, he wasn't a licensed doctor. If i told you a guy held a rally, a sort of peace rally in the hills where four or five thousand people showed up and wanted to make sure no one went hungry while listening to him (they could fall asleep) so he took just a piece of fish and a few loaves of bread, and distributed it, and it mysteriously multiplied so that everyone had their fill and there were baskets left over. TWELVE baskets left over. Would you want to know who that guy was? What if I told you that a guy who had so many demons possessing him that he frothed and foamed at the mouth, never held a job and was basically considered the outcast lunatic that people ran from- and this guy commanded all the demons to get out of him and they fled such that the man was then normal and sane-while the demons ran into possessing an entire herd of pigs that flung themselves off a cliff. Would you want to know who that guy was? What if i told you that there was a woman who had an improperly diagnosed hemhorage for about twelve years such that she was so unclean no man could touch her (she likely suffered emotional torment, likely was unmarried and likely a scorned social outcast) and by merely grabbing the hem of the garment of this guy she was instantaneously cured- would you want to know who that guy was? What if I told you that this was all the same guy! Wouldn't you really want to meet this guy!
