The Move That Made Obama A One Term President

It's Not Health Care

While everyone watched with suspended disbelief as he pulled off a remarkable act of leadership in getting the Health Care bill passed with the assistance of probably the most effective Speaker of the House in history (Go Girl Power), Obama followed that with what will be considered the dumbest move, the most special interest bought and sold move, the most smelly move of his Administration to date that he won't be able to recover from if it actually goes through: the most controversial act of his Presidency that will fuel more assaults on his judgment than the slew of States' Attorneys General wondering if a Congressional bill can actually force American consumers to buy a private product at an unknown price by statute. (Note that social security does not work like this in spite of the analogies, because social security is taken from payroll and is based on a percentage of income.)

Here it is- DRILLING OFF THE EASTERN COAST- ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?

This is a move only someone who grew up outside the Eastern Coast could pull with any conscience. It shows Obama as someone out of touch, without a grip. Where is Joe Biden who has a house in Avalon on this? This shows that in spite of a Western Coast Hawaiian orientation, Obama is not steeped in beach culture. No shock there probably. Do the words Rehoboth Beach mean anything to you?
It is a move that scares everyone who ever vacationed on the Jersey Shore - of any and all economic classes and ranks. It will tick off big party money in the Hamptons. It will tick off every environmentalist who studied the eastern barrier island marshes. It ignores the wealth of study at various marine biology resource centers all up and down the Eastern Coast. Can you imagine the financial devastation and drop in property values if there is ever a spill, which with currents could effect everything from the outer banks or islands off Georgia to the Nantucket Sound. Not only that, it could spread inland (the fears will go)- can you see oily ducks floating down the Chesapeake into the Potomac floating by Georgetown Harbor?

REALLY BONE- HEADED MOVE POLITICALLY.

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME.

The Shore, and the Shore towns all up and down the East Coast which include some of the highest priced real estate anywhere in the world, all up and down the East Coast, is one of the thriving vital economic segments of the country, featuring restaurants, amusement parts, real estate developments, thriving retail shops, malls, and nightlife of all varieties for all ages, boat life, yaght sales, marinas, fishing leisure industries, etc.. It is emotionally speaking and economically speaking probably the dumbest thing a President can suggest doing- turning it into Oil Rigland like parts of Louisiana to cater to the Oil Industry because he can't think up a better plan to foster independence from foreign oil. Really Dumb. Take the Cake and do the Walk Dumb. Has he not figured out why no President before him let this happen?
