Or Give Me Death
Means something to the Pastors being persecuted by internment in forced labor camps in North Korea as was reported recently by Voice of the Martyrs. For preaching they are sentenced to harsh manual labor until they die. It also means something to the people being prosecuted in India under anti-conversion laws where Judges are routinely threatened with death if cases are dismissed when prosecuting christians. Pastors in Iran and Pakistan subject to blasphemy laws are under capital sentences on a death watch.
This is what religious persecution looks like. This is what people like former Justice Department attorney Brent McBurney are fighting through an organization called ADVOCATES INTERNATIONAL. According to their prayer card they would like to remind us of 1 Samuel 12:23. Their mission statement reads "Encouraging and enabling Advocates to meet locally, organize nationally, cooperate regionally and link globally to promote justice, rule of law, religious freedom, reconciliation and integrity." www.advocatesinternational.org HERE 703-894-1084.
The head of the organization recently returned from Albania where there are restrictive church registration laws that threaten to drive worship underground as in the days of the old Soviets. Advocates International functions effectively like the international arm of the Christian Legal Society and is comprised of catholic, protestant and evangelical of all stripes legal professionals. They work in collaboration with various religious liberty promoting organizations on worthy efforts to establish the principles of freedom of religion, particularly focused on countries making martyrs of Christians.
The work they have potential to do to highlight these abuses and offenses is invaluable. They provide insight and have networks of professionals on the ground that the State Department does not have- and can find useful.
Please consider contributing to them- it is a Non Profit that like most in this economy is short staffed and needs funding to do its mission as well as it would like to.
Checks can be mailed to 9691 Main Street, Suite D, Fairfax, VA 22031-3754.
If you know of any case that deserves their attention or are interested in starting a chapter in your locality or country please call Brent McBurney at (US) 703-894-1084.
