A Priest And An Impressionist

Father Barron in his Catholicism series (should be mandatory viewing in every parish) discusses a famous impressionist painting and notes that up close it looks like a bunch of dots. Pointalism to use the precise term.  If you pull back to get perspective you can see the actual image- of people with umbrellas
in that case taking a stroll.  Pointalism has light dots, colored dots, black or darker dots and spaces in between.  The image as a whole looks beautiful while up close it looks like random dots, some dark ones, some light ones. This is like how we view life now close up, and if we are in the middle of a drama we might be the darker dot looking at spaces. But someone looking at the whole is going to see something beautiful in an image that uplifts them perhaps that contains beauty and order.  Perhaps that is why suffering and pain can be redemptive- you suffer the darkness but the whole picture provides beauty. The brief spot of darkness has its higher function.
The underlying creation is founded on Love because the Logos, or raison d'ĂȘtre is love- which is God. God is Love. So everything he created is imbued with it in its essence.
