Help a Brother Out.
Do They Know It's Easter on the Street?
After you have crash landed from the sugar euphoria of chocolate bunnies and eggs wrapped in neon tinfoil, Easter Monday, remember that there will be 100 or so guys lined up to go into the below-ground conference room at Saint Matthews Cathedral (17th and Rhode Island-link to the right) in downtown Washington, DC to get a meal for the day at 8:30 am. Here's what I want you to do: deliver a bag of easter candy-bunnies, eggs, peeps, jelly beans, whatever you don't think you can possibly stomach more of without going into diabetic coma between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. Just stop by on the way to work, go down the stairs in the alley to the left of the church (facing the church)- drop them off, and say hello. That's all. It will make their week. You had enough candy.
Saint Matthews runs a homeless program where they feed, clothe and give a bit of spiritual sustenance to folks some days when they have scripture discussion class. Monday they will just be there looking for a cup of java and a bit of breakfast that has to last a while. Lets make sure they know it's Easter Monday.
