Why We All Can't Stop Talking About It.
Imagine you are black in the 1960s in America. Imagine if Martin Luther King, Jr. made certain truth claims about himself that people found shocking. Clearly he was counter-cultural to the established white elite of the day- clearly he was a visionary apostle of peace and non-violence in the tradition of Ghandi and Jesus. Imagine he said other more radical things like "I and the Father are ONE." "I Am " or "unless you eat my body you will not have life within you."
Huh? These were the sorts of things that Jesus said as is reported by multiple accounts of different people in scripture. He spoke profound wisdom and mysteries through parables, he quoted scripture like he wrote it. As I was saying.....
Imagine if Martin Luther King, Jr. the closest thing to an American 20th century Saint some believe, talked like this. Then imagine that in thinly veiled parabolic reference he said "if you tear this Temple down I will raise it in three days" refering to himself- meaning he forecasted if he was killed he would three days later rise alive. Imagine he said at a formal state dinner that he knew that someone sitting at the table was going to do him in.
Now imagine that everything he said came to pass- someone sitting at the table shot him.
Imagine he died. Then imagine he rose from the dead just like he said he would.
Who would stop talking about that? They would be talking about that for Centuries.
We are talking about Jesus like that. Centuries later.
