Has Had a Sheltered Life
It's part of his charm and part of his undoing.
In his defense of Mitt Romney's capitalism attempting not to pile on to put himself in good vice presidential status if Romney does get the nomination, he really does not understand how business and capitalism works- not surprising for someone who was barely an associate at a law firm, then ran for Congress and has been in politics and lobbying around DC for twenty years.
There is a textbook on the subject I recommend he read called "Corporate Raiding --the Art of War" by the Godfather of Arbitrage Ascher Edelman, who was the bain of American Executives when he was out there hostilely taking over and pilfering corporations to make his fortune which now resides in Swiss Bank accounts and his art collection.

Santorum thinks everyone who has a company and got rich at it is a paragon of American capitalism. Not true. Some people have made a fortune raiding American corporations which is the opposite of promoting true capitalism- it's exploiting the weaker links.
Its the guy who says in your face "You Are The Weakest Link, Bye Bye."
Santorum looks woefully naiive when he makes these sorts of Romney defense statements.
The last thing that the country now needs is an Arbitrage Kingpin Godfather as a President. Really. Trust Me.
