Things you Shouldn't Do While Campaigning

And Obama likely will win anyway. A for trying.

Hispanics are twenty percent of the population and they are lining up for Obama largely.
Santorum has a few problems that would never make him competitive with Obama. 1. The
homeschooling looks too odd. Evangelicals are not hicks and it is a misperception that they all
favor homeschooling. Just because someone is an evangelical doesn't mean that they don't respect
the teaching profession. To be against overfederalizing education as some evangelicals are because of things they perceive as national curriculum issues means they want more local control; it does not mean that they want to abolish the school system and bring all the kids back home. This country never could have developed into the superpower that it is without our school system having developed and the teaching professions matured as they did from the one room schoolhouse days which allowed parents to work and develop their own potentials which advanced the country. The rant against the Department of Education- really, who does that cater to? Iowa has great schools by the way. There are people making a living as teachers in Iowa just as in South Carolina. South Carolinians are not all straw chewing hicks either. Duke is one of the best Universities and is in the Carolinas. Bank of America is in the Carolinas. If you play to the hicks you are not going to look Presidential. Have to nuance that and don't play up the homeschooling? Why? Send a kid or two to Holy Trinity's catholic school in DC or something. Are you for vouchers so parents have a choice or should they all not go to work and teach class in the kitchen?
2. The gay bashing doesn't go over with even Evangelicals. Santorum got 'glitter bombed' at the end (he should have said Thanks, Glitter is fun and cool, now my suit sparkles for the cameras).
How would you like someone saying that they would abolish your marriage? Do unto others. Do not judge, we will all be judged and we all fall short. Have you not seen that fun TV show 'women who love men who love men?' Do you not realize that in your own religion prior to Benedict's Ban in 2005 of gay seminarians which expelled or disqualified large numbers of gay from seminary that it is estimated that about one third of the priesthood was or is latently or once gay? Do you not know any gay people? Are you blind when you come downtown in DC? Do you know Gingrich's half sister? Gay bashing just looks really mean spirited. Not Presidential. Santorum needs to understand that there are now gay people, legally married, with children, raising children who otherwise would be bounced from state homes to foster care. Children are much better off in stable consistently loving homes than bounced around. Gay couples are providing that. Imagine someone saying to you, we are going to annul your marriage and take away your children? Gay people, and people who are related to them and support them emotionally and/or financially (gay people don't exist in a social vacuum, they have families, parents, cousins, co-workers) are no less likely to be insulted by someone saying you want to take away or deligitimize their spouse than you would be.

3. The states banning contraception? Really? Don't get me started. Another one that has not been really thought through. Imagine if everyone actually had as many kids as their fertility allowed- imagine the abortion numbers and imagine if you are also insisting on no abortions how many parents unable in this economy to take care of their children- now imagine the sort of street gangs of parentless kids living in garbage dumps in Guatemala, because that is the natural progression of the argument.
None of these views are mainstream enough to attract a national audience. They strike some as just whacky, not 'conservative.' Conservative can't mean dumb toothless hillbilly or it is a joke and no one will listen to the economic theory of it.
When people are out of work and the economy is tanking jobs or sending them overseas, the last thing anyone wants to hear is that a Presidential candidate is blaming it on their lack of morality. The 99 percent sleeping in the Park opposite the Catholic Information Center are not coming in the Center to pray for their souls because they are out of work. They are cursing the Banks, Wall Street and anyone they perceive has money and isn't sharing. The 99 percent don't want to hear their plight is their lack of morality.
Gingrich apparently does have a tax plan that has been endorsed by people in the know. You want some assurances that a President has a sense of what economic moves have to take place to offer decent intelligent solutions that have not been thought of yet by the brain trust now running the White House.

Romney, well, people are going to get a real sense that this is a viciously ambitious guy who didn't get rich being a nice guy. He will fabricate and bend the truth to make his point. He will gut a pig for its bacon. Arbitrage in the business world is not 'Turn-Around' artistry. Arbitrage is
exploitation to make rich off the hardship of others and vulnerable enterprises in distress. If you dig hard enough you will not have a problem finding people who were exploited by his exploits. The country is now a vulnerable enterprise in distress. And the last thing that the country in this depressed state needs is someone gutting the pig for his bacon. You know that Mormon "Castle" that sits perched around the Beltway that Washington insiders call "OZ"? How would you like to see it buy the National Cathedral and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and all the property from the White House to the Pentagon? Romney is a Mormon 'Missionary' and he wants your soul. The soul of All America. And he's going to buy it if he has to.
A Mormon Bishop is not Apostolic. For God's Sake (and I really mean it) read the Book of Mormon.
