GAYNESS PROBLEM
Many are now saying that the GOP should drop the hard line against gay marriage and not hang their horse on that issue everywhere, to mix a few metaphors.
The hardcore scripture reading morality teachers like clerics have read scripture that says in the latter days there will people who trade normal sexual relations with attractions for their same gender, which is not something Jesus said but it is scriptural and it was said by an authority we recognize as speaking God's word. So naturally they feel it their obligation to make sure everyone knows it is a slip and fall down the slippery slope to gommorrah in their view.
Fair enough, it is their job. If you are a person who believes scripture to be true and accurately the word of God you take that to heart.
There is, however, a growing body of scientific literature statistically suggesting that gayness proclivity can be tied to three (four depending on what you read) factors including genes, hormonal balances and ability to produce hormones and birth order. There is a body of scientific literature that says that women when they are pregnant with a male have to emit antigens into the placenta so that the male hormonal features of a male fetus are not read as a foreign body and expelled while developing in miscarriage which antigens neutralize masculin development. So the theory is that the younger or later born males, in a family with several older first born males will generate statistically more gay males due to the stronger presence of these antigens that the woman's body makes to avoid miscarriage. Google it- YouTube it- I am not medically savvy enough to make it up. They have also found that fraternal twins have a much higher incidence of sibling gayness than non fraternal twins which suggests to researchers that there is a genetic component we have yet to discover.
The further proof that it is something that is intrinsic to a person that they cannot merely pray away is in the fact that in the animal kingdom many many species naturally gay pair and couple notwithstanding it does nothing to propagate the species.
It is possible, and it makes a certain degree of sense that God would create gay people who would not be bound or distracted or necessarily homebound by their own procreation to assist in advancing the species. Similar rationale one could find in justifying a family-less single celibate priesthood not house bound to their own family.
All that is to say, Cheney's married gay daughter and the log cabin Republicans aside, that gayness is not a well understood topic and so pontificating on it by people not runnnig for Pastor in Chief is misplaced and should be avoided if one doesn't want to sound sanctimoniously ignorant.
I don't think God's term of office is up for anyone's election.
Its very possible that God made some gay that way and very possible some chose it-who is to say all gay got that way the same way? The passage above that says in the latter days there will be people who turn away from their normal sexual relations and orientations does not logically negate the possibility that a small fraction of society is already born that way. What it should say is if you are not genetically born that way, don't try this at home boys and girls. Don't imitate those small percentage of gay people if you are not. It's not a cultural fad that should be copied- if you are born straight, stay straight. If you are born Gay- we don't have any business discriminating against you. That is a consistent reading isn't it?

False Prophets
And a 30 Billion Dollar Empire
Joe Smith is and was a false 'prophet' who had a carazy wild imagination and fraudulently penned totally fabricated materials he passed off as a newer testament scripture that has brain washed youth with bad or total lack of real religious formation in true Christianity-or Judaism for that matter. Do you know what the real First or Old Testament says happened to False Prophets like this? They got stoned to death it was such a heresy and scandal to mislead people. The Mormon Empire has 'Temples" whose size would put the Greek Parthenon to shame decked not with any crosses but with Stars of David as if to mock actual Jews (Smith-the 14 year old punk from upstate New York totally invented a Jewish colony headed by a fictional guy with that Jewish name "mormon"-sounds jewish right?) and Mormons therein engage in wildly quasi-demonic rituals that are all totally secret. It is astounding that any intelligent person who has done five seconds of research would not say that this is a cult. It is an enormous filthy rich cult-it's scary. Look at this Time Mag article on it. http://www.positiveatheism.org/writ/mormons.htm
You cannot call yourself an educated person and not recognize that this is an aggressively imperialist cult that is after members, members money, and governmental power of the purse.

Romney
Wants a Piece of That Action
Recall what happened when there were auto and AIG bailouts in the billions and the US Government took an interest in these corporations until debt could be restructured or paid back? Recall Obama saying he didn't want to be President to be running a car company. Romney does want to be President to run these distressed companies and he does want to own them, and he does want to sell off their major assets to his Mormon croonies in which he has some financial interest and he does want to enrich the Mormon Empire. I can think of fewer scarier things than a Romney Presidency. Imagine Ford company headquarters in Salt Lake City which would start to look like Oz for all the development that would happen over 8 years of Romney. Imagine the White House moving to Salt Lake City. Imagine that no one who is not a card carrying Mormon can get a job- because they do discriminate. They discriminated openly against blacks until 1978 and still you can count a handfull of them. Very few black Mormons. You think this is fanciful fear mongering? Think Again. A Mormon Corporate Raider wants his hands on the US Treasury. Are You People Out Of Your Minds??

Rick Santorum
Has Had a Sheltered Life
It's part of his charm and part of his undoing.
In his defense of Mitt Romney's capitalism attempting not to pile on to put himself in good vice presidential status if Romney does get the nomination, he really does not understand how business and capitalism works- not surprising for someone who was barely an associate at a law firm, then ran for Congress and has been in politics and lobbying around DC for twenty years.
There is a textbook on the subject I recommend he read called "Corporate Raiding --the Art of War" by the Godfather of Arbitrage Ascher Edelman, who was the bain of American Executives when he was out there hostilely taking over and pilfering corporations to make his fortune which now resides in Swiss Bank accounts and his art collection.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asher_Edelman
Santorum thinks everyone who has a company and got rich at it is a paragon of American capitalism. Not true. Some people have made a fortune raiding American corporations which is the opposite of promoting true capitalism- it's exploiting the weaker links.
Its the guy who says in your face "You Are The Weakest Link, Bye Bye."
Santorum looks woefully naiive when he makes these sorts of Romney defense statements.
The last thing that the country now needs is an Arbitrage Kingpin Godfather as a President. Really. Trust Me.

Business
Parasites
That is what venture capital arbitrage guys like Mitt Romney are. He sucks the lifeblood out of corporations, takes them over, and raids their assets. These people create no value for the entrepreneurs. They are parasites off them. Their only value is that they had money to begin with, in Romney's case due to his father's inheritance and his father's political career. If you inherit millions you can play with millions and call yourself a 'leader.' Romney is a product of a political career, he has created nothing. Its all a scam. Really.

So ridiculous it's bizarre anyone believes this nonsense
A guy with an Egyptian Papyrus comes to upstate New York in a traveling fair in the nineteenth century and impresses some fourteen year old kid who cons people into thinking
he can translate it. Conning people runs in Mitt's religion. Look at how wealthy the SECRETIVE Mormon cult really is. Well, you probably can't because it is a secret. Just like Mitts tax returns. WHAT A CON ARTIST
Why Crony Capitalism
Is Not Free Enterprise
You know someone enterprising when you see them. They make stuff and sell it- or they have a professional service to offer that people want to pay for. Generally making stuff requires manufacturing expertise, skills, sometimes machinery or capital expenses and improvements, etc. It may require a marketing team to get the stuff to market to sell it, an advertising budget and a lot of sales guys who become sales executives. It may require assessing demand and supply to figure out if the market is saturated. It may require shipping or transport costs or export costs. Crony Capitalism is the investment worlds way of making money off other people's creativity feeding off those who are being enterprising. Romney wants you to think that the Free Enterprise system is on trial. It isn't. His Crony Capitalism where venture capital guys or arbitrage guys who make nothing but pilfer off other people's creativity might be. What has Mitt ever made to make his fortune besides deals? He is a deal guy- and some of them threw thousands of people on the street. When you make nothing, you create nothing, you are not a net net wealth creator- you are a looter. If you look at the kind of billions floating around the Mormon world you kind of get the picture.

Mitt's Magic
Selling the Scam
We are catching on- New Hampshire a little too late- but Gingrich gets it. Romney is selling a scam. This it appears is deeply rooted in his Mormon missionary tragectory wherein he travelled to another continent to sell something he self deludedly believed in while it was utter nonsense ---selling like a door to door salesman a doctrine that is based on pure fabrication. It's called lying for a living.
And here we see Mitt's magic at work again- he didn't see any of those superpack Newt ads except the one he saw it sounded true to him. He didn't support gay marriage except he did. He wasn't for state funding of abortions except he put it into law in Massachusetts and put planned parenhood on the board, he is a hard core reliable conservative except he is a Massachusetts moderate....because his word means pretty much nothing.
He likes to fire people, but he was afraid a few times of getting a pink slip (while sitting on net worth in excess of what most Americans would earn in a lifetime) He has no idea what it might feel like to be foreclosed on, but he relishes in making Ted Kennedy have to take out a mortgage on one of his houses when running against him in reelection. He is the worst kind of conservative, his God is money and he knows how to make piles of it. He thinks Obama doesn't know how the economy works when he made his fortune 'chop shop' style (as Chris Matthews likes to say) raiding and arbitraging companies laying off thousands of people without a care. He likes to fire people. And he wants a job creating job? How many of the companies who hired Mitt were told he was a consulting firm turn around artist expert that could get them profitable again only to learn he was after raiding and gutting the company and sending the workers packing? How many companies were sold out down the river after being sold a bag of goods by Mitt the Scam artist? And he wants to do the same thing to the Whole Country now? He's after your soul all right. I would trust my soul with Newt or Santorum over him any day.
OH- and his Dad he claimed marched with MKL, when he didn't- and his mormon church at the time preached that dark skin was a curse of Cain. It didn't officially change until it revised the Book of Mormon on the point.
I say he should be fired from the campaign season- and I hope the Carolinas hand him his pink slip.

Mormon Missionary Testifies
That Jesus is the Spirit Brother of Satan
Listen to the end.....Oh, and the Book of Mormon was revised so the part about the dark skinned babies being dark skinned because it was a curse was edited out in 1978-----but Romney was a Mormon missionary under the old book trying to tell French Catholics ----that Jesus is the spirit brother of Satan. According to this guy- so is he.
Joseph Smith got the revelation according to these jokers that ALL the other religions of the world were wrong- except that one he invented. And Mitt Romney wants the soul of America?? How can this guy be a contender for President?

Whack-A-Doodle Ding Dong
Caaarraazzy Religion
Mormonism is laugh out loud funny. Watch this--
What- you didn't know that some unnamed Jewish prophet before Christ was born travelled to
Latin America to start a jewish colony, which was visited by Jesus after his resurrection and ascension? You didn't know a guy named Mormon wrote it all down and collated scripture and bound it into gold tablets and his son Moroni buried it in upstate New York? You didn't know Maroni appeared in a dream allegedly to Joseph Smith (after he was kicked out of his local Presbyterian church and later tried unsuccessfully to join the methodist church_) Is this where we get the name Moron from? Give me a break? We do not want a Mormon missionary as a President of the country. Sorry. Yes, it is a cult. A whackadoodledingdong caaarazy cult.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCjLf6yBkCA&feature=related
And they got people to pay money to send people to france to teach this garbage??
What a scam. Just like a Romney presidency would be- a collossal scam.

Not wierd at all! Not cultish at all---just secretive, secret handshakes and white robed baptisms for dead people and married in heaven stuff- what's so wierd?
Listen to the end of this.....where he describes how Lucifer shows up in a Mormon ritual in the temple and has 'the authority to answer that prayer.'

Moral Authority
And Practicing what you Preach
What is the moral authority of the Pope when he says gay marriage is the downfall of civilization when he kicks priests out of the priesthood for having kids and a secret wife as he did to the Los Angeles Bishop this past week for the revelation that he was an actual father? What is the moral authority of a Cardinal who sends any priest attracted to a woman to the "Saint Lukes's Institute" to get medically corrected (e.g. drugged into submission) if they are tempted in their chastity vow?
The Moral Authority of the church is compromised severely when it forces priests to be celibate when they are not so gifted by the Holy Spirit- and forced some obviously into living double lives. If marriage is holy and sacramental it is absurd to say that those closest to God cannot enter into it. What happens instead is an unofficial emotional polygamy where priests take on wives anyway without any official sacramental declaration- and that is not healthier to women than marrying one of them. They need to elect a new Pope when this one's time is up that isn't oblivious to the obvious and persecuting the righteous.

Not to Start a Whispering Campaign
But Where did Mitt's "Latin American" investment capital come from?
His Mexican relatives neighboring drug cartel kingpins laundering through American enterprise?
Mitt's Managed Bankruptcy approach to capitalism is exactly Not what the country needs now.
Corporate Raiders gutting and selling off assets aren't Presidential material.

How Not to Sound Like a Homophobe
When making a Constitutional Argument
The gay marriage debate has devolved into the most offensive perverse sounding reflection on 'man on dog' bestiality and polygamy, which wasn't ever the question and doesn't follow rationally or logically from what the argument is. It is a non-sequitor and should never be used by any lawyer in any Presidential debate because any lawyer in any Presidential debate should know how offensive that sounds to people who are already gay and married and all of their extended family and friends. I don't know what the statistics are on those numbers but If cousins of family members' in-laws count, I am one of them. I also have good gay friends so am offended for them, while I am not gay. I know several gay people who serve in Saint Matthews cathedral in many of the non-priestly or clerical functions there, because it is in Dupont Circle, DC, one of the highest populations of gay people in the country. They even have a program called "Always our Children" meaning, gay or not, we love you.
If you don't think that they should be allowed to be married on constitutional grounds, or even moral grounds, you could say something like being gay is a behavior attribute, and the anti-discrimination statutes address characteristics that are immutables like gender and race, so we don't discriminate against persons for non-behavioral attributes. Behaviors have always been allowed to be regulated by the state, and behaviors that have not been considered appropriate for protected status have not been given protected status. That would be a way not to be off the wall offensive. We can then disagree or not on what may be given protected status. And it isn't insulting my family's in-laws cousins or my favorite eucharistic minister. Note to Santorum- get better help.

Dear Cardinal Wuerl
of Washington ,DC
I will listen to you and read your letters that promote Republicans and forcing gays not to marry when you allow your priests to get married and not threaten to kick them out or harass their attractions.
Thank God there are more US Cardinals so he isn't the only and last word.
It makes zero sense that Episcopalian priests turned catholic can be married catholic priests now and Roman ones can't. That alone should disqualify you from opining on Adam finding the only suitable helpmate in Eve. And you think you are closer to Jesus? Really?

The problem with raining on everyone else's parade, as the Republican Presidential candidates all do to each other is that it just creates a rain storm that everyone wants to hide from. With one click of the tv you are all gone. Are you all working for Obama?
Romney thinks no one remembers that he ran unsuccessfully for President a while ago and acts like he has been sagely sitting on the sidelines in the business world without Presidential aspirations until Obama came to office and he determined to free the country of the oppressions of what he mistakingly believes to be european socialism. Gingrich lectures Romney on negative ads when he started it with his Citizens United movie that trashed Hillary back in 08 which launched a Supreme Court case eventually that paved the way for the system to be polluted by big money. Payback is a witch, isn't it Newt.
Then there's Santorum whose Sanctimony would make a nun blush lecturing New Hampshire on his belief that gayness means promiscuity and polygamy when the argument is the opposite--gay marriage is the opposite of promiscuity because it is about two people trying to form long lasting bonded relationships sealed in the law and the people of New Hampshire have already spoken on the point and favor that. Talk about needing to get new campaign advisors. Do you have to actually be booed off a stage to get that you flunked Supreme Court moot court 101?
Head bangingly dumb, these politicians this time around. Is that the best you all can do?
Note to Santorum. If you wish to be the President of all the people, not just suburban housewives making preserves, let me introduce you to a few women who work because you think they are morally inferior to you (names have been changed to protect the innocent):
1. Sally lost her father to lung cancer when she was 8. She grew up with a mother who worked as a special ed. school teacher and never remarried and had a rather consuming medical condition herself. She struggled. Sally determined never to be totally dependent on any man because they can die. She is an Executive Vice President of a major company and a working mother.
2. Louise lost her aunt, her father's sister when she was 12 to suicide because the aunt was in an abusive relationship with her husband who was on disability and could not provide for the family. Louise's father determined to teach his girls that they would never be exclusively dependent on any man because he feared them being trapped in a bad marriage so he promoted and encouraged Louise's professionalism. She is an attorney. Her sister is the President of a major corporation and a working mother.
3. Amy's father was a drug addict in and out of prison for the whole time that Amy grew up throwing her mother into emotional turmoil all her life and she had to work to keep a roof over Amy's head. Amy determined that she would never be totally emotionally or financially dependent on any man and is raising a child as a single mother. She works two jobs.
4. Rachel lost her husband at age 50 so she went back to school for a graduate degree. She was still raising her youngest still at home and didn't remarry. She worked in the education field and became a professor in a state college where she worked into her 70s.
I know all of these women. No. 1 is my godkid cousin, No. 3 is my niece, No. 4 is my grandmother, No. 2 is me.
I have Zero empathy, tolerance or patience for Santorum lecturing anyone in "It takes a Family" or anywhere else on women being less than virtuous for not sitting at home with seven kids. Call me a radical feminist.

We tried to warn you.
Apparent miscount for Romney makes Iowa announcement premature.
Looks like Santorum did win after all. They counted wrong. Go figure.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/05/iowa-caucus-2012-results_n_1188074.html
Let me tell you something kiddies. The 'Establishment' candidates are no strangers to vote counting tomfoolery. Not saying this was intentional- just sayin.
Recall Bush, Sr. who backed Romney was with the CIA early in his career which
engineered the rise and fall of regimes through vote rigging. His friends in high places knew how to 'deliver' the votes in 2004 to his son, only with electronic sophistocation you couldn't imagine has even been yet invented. This is just the preview. Recall the head of the largest voting machinery company in the country saying in Ohio in a letter he could "deliver" for Bush in 2004. Ask Bob Fritakis Clint Curtis, or John Conyers or Peter Peckarsky all about it.
When you look at your telecommand clicker do you understand how some device five feet away from an object can turn the tv on or off? Ponder that. Now ponder the ability of someone who has programmed voting machinery to turn on and off a program that flips votes that no one would ever know or discover because they also have the ability to know when it is being test run so keep it off when its only test run. We have 'closed source code' voting meaning, you don't get to inspect, and no independent body gets to inspect the source software coding on proprietary voting machinery. Its all a 'trade secret."
Auditability, Transparency, Reliability Testability. If your voting machinery is none of the above, you have a chimera of a democracy.
I prefer counting handwritten postits manually under the eye of a camera.
The election could be stolen in this country again. No one would be the wiser and no one would doubt the results this time because of the approval ratings and state of the economy. The system is still frighteningly defective. It's not skeptical to say so, it's ignorant not to get it.

Things you Shouldn't Do While Campaigning
And Obama likely will win anyway. A for trying.
Hispanics are twenty percent of the population and they are lining up for Obama largely.
Santorum has a few problems that would never make him competitive with Obama. 1. The
homeschooling looks too odd. Evangelicals are not hicks and it is a misperception that they all
favor homeschooling. Just because someone is an evangelical doesn't mean that they don't respect
the teaching profession. To be against overfederalizing education as some evangelicals are because of things they perceive as national curriculum issues means they want more local control; it does not mean that they want to abolish the school system and bring all the kids back home. This country never could have developed into the superpower that it is without our school system having developed and the teaching professions matured as they did from the one room schoolhouse days which allowed parents to work and develop their own potentials which advanced the country. The rant against the Department of Education- really, who does that cater to? Iowa has great schools by the way. There are people making a living as teachers in Iowa just as in South Carolina. South Carolinians are not all straw chewing hicks either. Duke is one of the best Universities and is in the Carolinas. Bank of America is in the Carolinas. If you play to the hicks you are not going to look Presidential. Have to nuance that and don't play up the homeschooling? Why? Send a kid or two to Holy Trinity's catholic school in DC or something. Are you for vouchers so parents have a choice or should they all not go to work and teach class in the kitchen?
2. The gay bashing doesn't go over with even Evangelicals. Santorum got 'glitter bombed' at the end (he should have said Thanks, Glitter is fun and cool, now my suit sparkles for the cameras).
How would you like someone saying that they would abolish your marriage? Do unto others. Do not judge, we will all be judged and we all fall short. Have you not seen that fun TV show 'women who love men who love men?' Do you not realize that in your own religion prior to Benedict's Ban in 2005 of gay seminarians which expelled or disqualified large numbers of gay from seminary that it is estimated that about one third of the priesthood was or is latently or once gay? Do you not know any gay people? Are you blind when you come downtown in DC? Do you know Gingrich's half sister? Gay bashing just looks really mean spirited. Not Presidential. Santorum needs to understand that there are now gay people, legally married, with children, raising children who otherwise would be bounced from state homes to foster care. Children are much better off in stable consistently loving homes than bounced around. Gay couples are providing that. Imagine someone saying to you, we are going to annul your marriage and take away your children? Gay people, and people who are related to them and support them emotionally and/or financially (gay people don't exist in a social vacuum, they have families, parents, cousins, co-workers) are no less likely to be insulted by someone saying you want to take away or deligitimize their spouse than you would be.
3. The states banning contraception? Really? Don't get me started. Another one that has not been really thought through. Imagine if everyone actually had as many kids as their fertility allowed- imagine the abortion numbers and imagine if you are also insisting on no abortions how many parents unable in this economy to take care of their children- now imagine the sort of street gangs of parentless kids living in garbage dumps in Guatemala, because that is the natural progression of the argument.
None of these views are mainstream enough to attract a national audience. They strike some as just whacky, not 'conservative.' Conservative can't mean dumb toothless hillbilly or it is a joke and no one will listen to the economic theory of it.
When people are out of work and the economy is tanking jobs or sending them overseas, the last thing anyone wants to hear is that a Presidential candidate is blaming it on their lack of morality. The 99 percent sleeping in the Park opposite the Catholic Information Center are not coming in the Center to pray for their souls because they are out of work. They are cursing the Banks, Wall Street and anyone they perceive has money and isn't sharing. The 99 percent don't want to hear their plight is their lack of morality.
Gingrich apparently does have a tax plan that has been endorsed by people in the know. You want some assurances that a President has a sense of what economic moves have to take place to offer decent intelligent solutions that have not been thought of yet by the brain trust now running the White House.
Romney, well, people are going to get a real sense that this is a viciously ambitious guy who didn't get rich being a nice guy. He will fabricate and bend the truth to make his point. He will gut a pig for its bacon. Arbitrage in the business world is not 'Turn-Around' artistry. Arbitrage is
exploitation to make rich off the hardship of others and vulnerable enterprises in distress. If you dig hard enough you will not have a problem finding people who were exploited by his exploits. The country is now a vulnerable enterprise in distress. And the last thing that the country in this depressed state needs is someone gutting the pig for his bacon. You know that Mormon "Castle" that sits perched around the Beltway that Washington insiders call "OZ"? How would you like to see it buy the National Cathedral and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and all the property from the White House to the Pentagon? Romney is a Mormon 'Missionary' and he wants your soul. The soul of All America. And he's going to buy it if he has to.
A Mormon Bishop is not Apostolic. For God's Sake (and I really mean it) read the Book of Mormon.

Congratulations
Rick and Karen Santorum
Karen Santorum addressed the caucus at the Gloria Dei Luthern Church to tell them that
her husband is 'faithful' and that there is nothing better. This is a guy who isn't going to lie
to the country. There is no guile in him. Just a straight shooter from Pennsylvania. God Bless them
both. For pulling off what they already did they are winners.

That's the Ticket
The biggest threat to the Democrats now is:
SANTORUM-BACHMAN vs. OBAMA-BIDEN
If Michele get squeezed out Santorum can rebut the anti-feminist critique of detractors by teaming up with Bachman. Stranger things have happened. That would be a horse race folks.
Two attorneys. Pro Life. Pro Business. Trying to grow manufacturing jobs, strong on National Security.
With Murdock's money.

Political Civility
and the Dignified Debate
Santorum's Temperament
You can't call Santorum hotheaded. You haven't seen him frustrated and explode in expletives. You haven't seen him even snarky or sarcastic levelling pot shots. He has sincere policy differences and views on those social hot button issues. You know lots of people do and think they are worth a national stage for discussion.
President Obama is a dignified intelligent person who doesn't resort to low ball cheap shots either. He has a perspective and views that differ from conservatives obviously. But you know that such a debate between them would be on a level that is not below the belt. It would make the choices stark and clear.
I want to see them debate. Romney is going to embarass his supporters by throwing out facts that are not accurate (because he is a master fabricator.) Gingrich is going to destroy his credibility fast and make that pretty evident. He flatly calls Romney a liar. It will become more obvious as time goes on. Santorum is someone whose honor and integrity and Presidential disposition could sit and debate on a level worth watching. These are both good solid men, fine Americans. You wouldn't be cringing while the world was watching these two guys talk it over.
Santorum is young enough that if he doesn't win he can come back and try again. Romney will lose to Obama if he is the nominee.

Presidential Wives
And the Visceral Gut Checks.
As the campaign unrolls further and further we are going to get speeches and subtextual messages on roles of women in politics and america. Conservatives aren't famous for support of
professional women, there is only one running for President and none of the wives of the male contenders has a profession independent of and outside the home. Karen Santorum apparently did go to law school and has a JD but who has time with the homeschooling seven kids to work any job other than for her husband. Calista is a musician and choir singer, not sure if they pay those people at the Basillica...that might be the only independent job a contender's spouse has if they do. Romney's wife doesn't need to work anything other than the bridge party set up or junior league bake sales.
Karen Santorum looks authentic. Like someone you could run into in a grocery store asking where the peanut butter is on sale. Her hair looks natural. This says a lot believe it or not to other women. This is a woman who looks like she had to watch a budget and would shop at Marshalls or TJ Max or Ross or wherever they had the best sales to dress and feed a large family. Calista looks too scRipted and hollywood and like she just spends too much money on herself. It looks too lady MacBethish, too polished, too fake. Karen Santorum looks relatable that way, Calista looks like someone who wishes she were a princess and wants people treating her like one. It's the catholic version of what used to be called "Jappy." Please forgive me my Jewish friends.
Karen Santorum looks like she knows how to bake yeast bread and make a great sweet potato caserole and roasted vegetables with whatever grows in her garden. Calista looks like she orders Turkey from Harrods for Thanksgiving. This all matters. People don't want to see the three pearl Saks Fifth Ave Tiffany's Princess model in a First Lady. It doesn't inspire envy it inspires rage in these economic times and it looks like insecurity on her part. Does she own a pair of khakis?. Little children in many Southern States have nothing to eat two days a week when they don't get school lunches and they don't want to see McLean Tiffany's Papal Princess sporting her three pearl Saks get up while peddling a children's book. Something too offensive for words that doesn't sit well.
Michelle Obama became an instant hit when sporting GAP clothing- because it's affordable and casual chic. She is a person who ran a family budget. You can tell. Once you are first lady you will get all the offers in the world to grace the covers of Vogue and Town and Country. When you are running you better know that Target and H&M sell clothes for the masses of people who vote.
We can talk later about whether contraception bans imprison women as sex slaves or whether anti abortion statutes are forced peonage enslaving women to their offspring, etc.....My new test for Presidential wife is, would she be embarassed to wear a plaid flannel shirt at a baseball game?

Grace Under Fire
Look at this news clip. How creepy that this new interviewer seems to be staring relentlessly at Santorum's wife, she tries to angle back looking at her husband. What is with that wierd news guy? http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/video/2012-rick-santorum-explans-06-loss-15275750
Is she not allowed to answer questions? Look at how odd this looks...what is going on?
For someone who had seven kids (eight if you count the one they lost) she is in great shape. She should get to South Carolina Wednesday and talk family and faith anywhere she is invited. Let her talk. (She is on a speakers bureau, we know she can)
Santorum is projected to win Iowa. Romney will likely win New Hampshire and I don't put it past anyone to stage a come back for South Carolina. Santorum should send all his older kids down there fast.
Could Santorum beat Obama? It would be the debate that defines the different political theories of role of government that every college kid has to watch.

Striking the Right Tone
Santorum Says First Thank You
to Iowans at a local Pizza Ranch palor before the caucuses. He doesn't come off as presumptuous like Romney, like Romney is owed it or bought it. He doesn't come off as sleazy as Romney for having hid behind the attack ad machinery of his superpac. He doesn't come off as slightly snotty or condescending as Newt can sometimes feel like. He comes off as a guy who believed in his vision, believed in hard work pummelling the pavements, door to door, to meet and greet and get there, the old fashioned way. Does he even have a twitter account? He hasn't launched any silly faux pasish snyde come backs the way Huntsman does tweeting his sarcasm.
He doesn't talk down to folks. He connects with them. This plays in Peoria and Des Moines.
I don't agree with him on gay marriage- I am not gay but disagree with the premise that denying anyone civil liberties or equal justice under the law makes a stronger society or makes heterosexuals more prone to marry. I think it is a non sequitor. But I like Santorum. I respect him. And I applaud the way he didn't let lack of funding get in his way. That's what happens when you hear a calling- you have to go for it and God provides. I think God is going to provide for Santorum to go all the way to the Convention. Only God knows what's after that for him.

The Soul Of America
Is Already Saved.
The economy could use a kickstart though.
Mitt's line comes out of a Mormon mission playbook- they want to save your soul. Mormon theocracy? Religion of Capitalism? Is capitalism on trial or is some national religion? Romney's stumping about 'saving the soul of America' is catchy but perverse. First of all, this is one of the most self-describedly religious populations on the planet.
What he means is- he is looking for more Mormon converts who will line up and work for him under his theory of the Kingdom.
There is only one account of the Judgment Day in the Bible that Christians hold dear. That is in Matthew 25 wherein Jesus himself tells us that he will separate the sheep from the goats and throw the goats to a place where there will be gnashing of teeth and wailing. Who are the sheep? Those who feed the hungry, tend to the sick, visit and free the oppressed, clothe the naked, etc....
Every Christian ought to aspire to do that- because as James said, Faith without works is dead. It isn't how much money you make, its how much you take care of other people. Romney's formula for soul saving is suspect. And the rhetoric misplaced. American business without responsible government oversight or regulation is a formula for rampant greed to run amuck.
Even Gingrich knows that Rivers can be ablaze in fire with pollution without an EPA to regulate clean up of toxic dumping. Does that regulation kill jobs under Romney's formula? Probably- if it mandates shutting the factory down until they can install something that won't dump toxic life threatening chemicals into the river that is on fire.
The Saving the Soul of America rhetoric is insulting. Just like much of Romney's stumping.
We are not jealous of the wealth, we are insulted at the bigotry. And we don't want it running the country.

Things they should have said.
To Santorum:
Why did you endorse Romney in 2008?
Answer: I don't think I was in the race then.

From the CRI, Christian Research Institute- because Truth Matters
Does Mormonism REALLY teach that Jesus is the spirit brother of Satan?
To begin with, according to official Mormon teaching, Jesus Christ is the first spirit child conceived and begotten by Heavenly Father and one of Heavenly Father’s many wives (commonly referred to as “Heavenly Mother”). Just as Heavenly Father before him progressed to godhood, so Jesus progressed through obedience to the status of a god (prior to his incarnation on earth). In the words of the late Mormon Apostle and General Authority Bruce McConkie, Jesus Christ through obedience and devotion “attained that pinnacle of intelligence which ranked him as a God.” As such, according to LDS authorities, Jesus is not to be worshiped or prayed to as one would worship or pray to Heavenly Father.
Furthermore, Mormons teach that Heavenly Father subsequently had other spirit children. We ourselves are thought to be spirit children of Father God and Mother God. As such, Mormons refer to Jesus as our “Elder brother.” As the official LDS teacher’s manual Gospel Principles explains, “We needed a Savior to pay for our sins and teach us how to return to our Heavenly Father. Our Father said, ‘Whom shall I send?’ (Abraham 3:27). Two of our brothers offered to help. Our oldest brother, Jesus Christ, who was then called Jehovah, said, ‘Here am I, send me’” (emphasis added).
Finally, it stands to reason that if Jesus is the first spirit child conceived and begotten by Heavenly Father; and if Heavenly Father and Mother subsequently conceived other spirit children including Satan; then Jesus and Satan logically are spirit brothers. While LDS spokespersons sometimes obfuscate this fundamental Mormon teaching, apostles of the Mormon Church and current official LDS publications clearly affirm it. As explained by the Mormon publication Ensign, “On first hearing, the doctrine that Lucifer and our Lord, Jesus Christ, are brothers may seem surprising to some— especially to those unacquainted with latter-day revelations. But both the scriptures and the prophets affirm that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are indeed offspring of our Heavenly Father and, therefore, spirit brothers.”
In sharp contrast to Mormon Christology, the biblical witness is clear and convincing: Jesus Christ is the eternal Creator God (John 1; Colossians 1; Hebrews 1; Revelation 1). Paul explicitly teaches that Jesus is the creator of all, including the angelic realm to which Satan belongs (Colossians 1:15–16; cf. John 1:3). Jesus is thus Satan’s creator, not his spirit brother.
For further study, see “Is Mormonism Christian?” p. 253; and “Is the Book of Mormon credible?” p. 257; and Hank Hanegraaff, “The Mormon Mirage: Seeing Through the Illusion of Mainstream Mormonism” (Charlotte: Christian Research Institute, 2008).
Colossians 1:15–16 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

Mitt's Mormonism Making Evangelicals Uncomfortable.
Mitt Romney is not just a Mormon because that's what his family is. He is a BISHOP in his church and was a missionary that the church paid for to live in France
He raised his family in the church and has given millions to it. On more of Ann Coulter is a media whore idiot see below (apparently all the Republicans who disagree with her are like Obama 'birthers' or 911 conspirators- what an idiot):
http://www.exposemittromney.com/
Mormon is not Christian. Not close. You cannot be a Bishop in any church without adhering to its doctrines or affirming same. Ask Mitt what he thinks of the Mormon tenet that Jesus is a spirit brother of Lucifer (Satan) http://www.equip.org/bible_answers/does-mormonism-really-teach-that-jesus-is-the-spirit-brother-of-satan-
http://fairmormon.org/Jesus_Christ/Brother_of_Satan
This runs directly counter to the Gospel of John in the Christian bible (all Christian bibles, including Catholic) in which the Apostle John notes that in the beginning was The Word, and the Word was with God- thus Jesus existed in Trinity co-existence with God at the outset of creation.
Christians believe Lucifer is a fallen angel, and Jesus part of the Godhead Trinity. Mormons flatly do not maintain what Christians maintain concerning the identity and nature of Jesus Christ, of Nazareth.
And what about those Richie Rich guys who are so rich they can buy themselves Justice??
Romney was arrested in 1981, for trying to use an unregistered boat in a state park, then threatened to sue and the case mysteriously dropped and sealed. Not saying he did anything wrong, just sayin. http://romneyfacts.com/issue_rap.php

The Benefits
Of Being There
The constant refrain of 'Washington insider' attacks on anyone with experience in Washington strike me as really odd sometimes. Mitt is trying to capitalize on the fact that he never held a federal government job and his life has been in the private sector. He attacks Santorum for not being.
First, that is not true because he was for a time a private attorney and law is a business like any other that feeds people and pays bills. Second someone with experience in both the House and Senate is EXPERIENCED in how it works which makes him about a thousand times more effective that he could get done whatever he wanted to do efficiently- because he knows how legislative process works from the inside. He wouldn't be relying on or be played by the people who do that for a living.
EXPERIENCED is what Santorum should counter Romney with. He served in Both the House and Senate. Not many people around who did that for years by the time they were 53. You can probably count the number on your left hand.
You wouldn't hire a plumber someone who never looked at a pipe or drain before, why would you hire a President who never federally legislated anything. You wouldn't hire a surgeon who never saw a scalpel. The White House is not just another CEO job.
It requires one master a delicate dance of process of forces that sometimes blind side you.
Santorum wouldn't be in over his head. Mitt wouldn't know what hit him and it would take him twice as long to find out.
But Romney was a Governor you say- in Liberal Massachusetts, so he knows how to deal with legislators. Yes, but no state legislature runs like Congress which has it's own rules. There are not even two houses in many state legislatures, a state 'house' and senate as it were --and Romney was not on the inside of the sausagemaking. The process of getting something passed between the house and senate works totally differently. Obama at least was a Senator for two years and worked it from the inside.
You can put Santorum up against that and see what happens.
Being a private attorney gives one just as much perspective on the inside of corporate workings sometimes as a business consultant. In fact, private attorneys sometimes have to keep the business consultant types operating in a legal manner and get push back for it. Bain Capital is no different than any company that hired internal in house attorneys or outsourced legal work to make sure it was compliant with laws, and that is what people like Santorum did. Bain saw its fair share of litigation like all corporations. A CEO is no more qualified to be President - even someone with a Harvard MBA , than anyone.
Furthermore, everything 'inside Washington' isn't all bad and its a bad rap. People still get their tax refunds, social security checks and public universities get public funds. The FAA keeps the flight patterns from crashing, the FDA keeps your food from poisoning you. The troops all came home for Christmas from Iraq. This all happens because of what people 'inside Washington' do.
Santorum worked for two of the best law firms in Pennsylvania and went to Dickenson law school which is now part of the Penn State University system. It is an outstanding state law school whose professors come from the top rated Ivy law schools. Kirkpatrick and Lockhart is now Kirkpatrick Lockhart and Gates (K&L Gates) , which is named after Bill Gates' father who was a partner in Seattle's best law firm- it has a profound international presence and is a top rated law firm. This is where Santorum started his legal career. Eckert Seamons is also a top rated firm which is where he practiced after leaving public office. There is much more to Santorum than meets the eye. He has more experience and substance than appears on debates. He is relatively younger than the other debaters and sounded too narcisistic referencing his achievements sometimes, but he actually has a lot to brag about. And he would probably put his kids at the top of the list before any of it.

Mitt's Immigration Policy is what??
Mitt is a BISHOP layman in the Mormon church who gives the obligatory ten percent in tithes, meaning somewhere upwards of 20 Mil as his net worth is reported to be in excess of 200 mil. - don't know if that is before or after capital gains taxes.
From the Huffington Post:
Three dozen of Mitt Romney's relatives live here in a narrow river valley at the foot of the western Sierra Madre mountains, surrounded by peach groves, apple orchards and some of the baddest, most fearsome drug gangsters and kidnappers in all of northern Mexico.Like Mitt, the Mexican Romneys are descendants of Miles Park Romney, who came to the Chihuahua desert in 1885 seeking refuge from U.S. anti-polygamy laws. He had four wives and 30 children, and on the rocky banks of the Piedras Verdes River, he and his fellow Mormon pioneers carved out a prosperous settlement beyond the reach of U.S. federal marshals. He was Mitt's great-grandfather.
.............
They were hiding from the Marshalls because they practiced polygamy which is illegal in the US.
......
Huff Post also reported that Mitt reported his fav. book as "Twilight" which better not be about those vampire romances.

DEEP HONOR
The Making of a Nominee
Rick Santorum is someone I would like to see debate President Obama. I don't really care to see Romney bloviate about how clever he was financially to make a half a bil. arbitraging companies. Who cares. His attempt to not look like little Richie Rich wearing blue jeans everywhere doesn't fool me. The man is filthy rich. Not really connected with the struggling middle class. His arrogance is palpable. His condescention insufferable.
Rick Santorum for whatever you think of his policy views which are indeed traditonal and conservative is a person of deep honor. Obama is a person of deep honor and holds slightly different strategic views on diplomatic manoevers and dramatically different views on the culture war issues.
There are very moving things about Santorum's personal history, such as a Trisomy 18 child which he didn't give up and tears up when speaking about who is about three years old now. You don't see this baby girl paraded around like Palin paraded around her special needs child for political gain and understand this is a really difficult challenge that Santorum handles with grace and gratitude for the life he calls a blessing. It's sincere. It's admirable.
Santorum also is to be commended for his tenacity. He had vision and plugged away at it faithfully.
He didn't have a pile of money thrown at him to start. He didn't think he deserved it. He speaks in a down home down to earth manner with humility. He doesn't sound like a braggard. Americans like to see vision, tenacy, and faith take the place of money in winning. It's true grit without a net.
His wife it turns out also has a JD and has nursing schooling. She was the wife of a Senator and had a few duties there under the radar. She is raising a baseball team full of children.
There are things that look suspect- like the homeschooling. There are excellent high quality catholic schools in DC and Virginia and one would hope that they would appreciate their value, as she doesn't have apparently any teaching credentials, but she isn't an idiot. And she is First Lady telegenic. She has also authored a few books. Seems a popular First Lady Wannabee thing to do.
Rick Santorum is on the rise, not for nuthin. He is a person of deep conviction, deep honor who holds things true and fights for them. You can disagree with him, but you can't really attack his integrity. That would be unjust. He isn't just talking the evangelical lingo, he actually is articulating what he sincerely believes- which sounds radical to secularists but is really obviously deeply felt. When he says things like there is a redemptive purpose in suffering which is not in vain, you know he is talking about personal family struggles. He draws on his faith.
The philosophic debate on a moral plane regarding those issues that divide the country would be worth watching between Santorum and Obama. Romney looks frankly, a bit foolish ranting against Europeans and a made up view of what he thinks the European socialist demise looks like. And it's tired and long played out already. We have had it with Freedom Fries.
In the land of Des Moines, the French Monks, it would be fitting if they elected the Catholic
Santorum, son of an Italian immigrant father, who passed the partial birth abortion ban, who has been given honors and an audience by the Pope. Does Santorum know how the economy runs? As well as anyone I venture to guess and would get a few folks to show him what he doesn't know. Santorum at least knows what he does not know whereas Romney it appears thinks he knows everything.
I may think Santorum flatly wrong on some issues and strategies, but he is a quality of integrity in a person that is starting to look Presidential. He wouldn't embarass the country internationally.

Here is to a great and very
New Year
News you might use.
A 59 year old married Episcopalian priest, father of three is the new face of the Episcopalian turned Catholic Priest under the new Ordinariate structure for Episcopalians who want to become Catholic. He became a catholic priest in 2009. They didn't make him abandon his family either. http://www.radiovaticana.org/FR1/articolo.asp?c=551157
So isn't it absurd that there is no 'married priest option' for catholic priests when there are now married catholic priests??

Mitt's Mistake
His Anti-European bigotry.
It is one thing to be solidly Patriotic and American. It is another to blame so called european socialism for any evils in the world or this country.
I wonder if Mitt realizes that on all the upward mobility indexes France now does better than the US. There is more opportunity in France than in the US. Arianna Huffington comments that this is a bit like saying the US is better than France in croissants and afternoon sex.
And I wonder if he realizes that unemployment rates in Germany and France are lower than in the US?
When American 'exceptionalism' ignores economic realities to serve a political conclusion like this, it is intellectually dishonest.
Europe is not an 'entitlement' society. Europeans work. They also have a better standard of living than a lot of places in the US. These overly broad generalizations are really scary from someone who wants to run the free world.
Lets look at Mitt's honesty then shall we.
He claims that at Bain he 'invested' in some winners and some losers. What was he really doing at Bain, a company he founded. Is it an arbitrage sort of company that ran companies into the ground to sell off assets that had more value sold separately than the sum of the whole of their parts? kind of like a clunker car that needed a paint job but was worth more if you sold out the parts separately? Nevermind the people who lost their jobs? Were these companies looking at litigation liabilities so reorged rather than pay legit liabilities? Were these companies whose Boards he butt heads with and didn't like? There is always more to the story.
Did he get kickbacks from acquiring companies after the dogged ones that were hostilely taken over were run into the ground?? His answer on what exactly happened here seemed insulting to our intelligence- like no one else knows how companies work. His statements that Obama doesn't know how the economy is run is really insulting. You don't have to be a consultant with a Harvard JD to know how companies work or how the economy runs. If you think like Santorum you don't even have to go to college at all apparently. People who start companies don't all go to Harvard. Bill Gates dropped out. I think Steve Jobs did as well. So much for Harvard MBAs.
Mitt's honesty.
Look at his attack ads against Newt- it is really not fair to say that he has no control over the Superpack attack ads against Newt when all his friends run the superpack for him. Point taken. Some distance. It is also not exactly accurate to say Newt profited 1.6 mil. on the fannie mae freddie mac mess because you cannot attribute the entire earnings to a consulting firm to one individual- they should say gross corporate earnings which might be splitting hairs and make the point anyway because they got the desired result of Newts wiggle room response in which he protests it wasn't for lobbying- as he defined what the definition of 'is' is.
I really do not believe that Mitt lived in any apartments in Le Havre France that had no indoor plumbing or running water. France has rigid habitability living and building codes like anywhere and in the late 1960s or 1970s they had in Le Havre a large modern city with modern post war structures that met codes. Mitt acts like being a missionary IN FRANCE, is like going to some third world jungle or carribean outpost. It's ridiculous. It's like someone saying I was a missionary in Philadelphia- we had to do our own laundry over a rock by the river. France is one of the most sophistocated modern cultures on the planet. Le Havre was and is a thriving port city. It's absurd. Someone should get the tape where he told Morning Joe that he was a missionary in Le Havre France and lived in apartments with no running water and go try to find the person he claims he lived with. Ask him- do you recall the name of any family you lived with who did not have running water when you were a missionary? This feeds into his ridiculous attempt to portray Europe as the anti-Christ feeding to the jingoistic American imperialist impulses and bigotry against those 'cheese eating surrender monkeys.' Really really offensive.\
Maybe he found a poor family who had their water shut off because they couldn't pay the bill.
There are poor people in every city. Everywhere. Doesn't mean they need the Book of Mormon.

America loves underdogs
Which should work out well for Michele Bachman.
Michele Bachman is an educated professional woman and mother. I don't believe she is ranting about destroying the Department of Education. She gives me less concern than Santorum whose wife Karen is 'home schooling' seven kids and we don't even think she has a college degree. Who is Karen Santorum? Don't you want to know what a First Lady is going to do? She reminds me of a typical quiet, spoke when spoken to only backdrop little woman who has nothing to offer but a neanderthal view of barefoot and pregnant womankind.
Romney's wife speaks. Calista speaks. You know who those women are. Who is Karen Santorum?
At his town hall meeting yesterday Santorum railed against modern culture for insisting everyone go to college- why should everyone have to go to college? You can have a perfectly full life without it he ranted. I don't know who this plays to because even people who were too poor to send themselves to college want to be able to send their kids to college. This Republican glorification of ignorance is frankly, disgusting. It's not something my Republican father would ever embrace. He made sure his two girls got the best education that they could get into and worked to afford it. There is nothing noble about ignorance or uneducated idiocy or aspiring to uneducation. Any President should insist that we have the most
maximally intelligent educated work force to compete in a global market that we can to advance even the business objectives that republicans hold dear. Most immigrant families scrimped and saved and tried to afford college and the government stepped in with subsidies in state colleges to make sure it was affordable for those who wanted to go. There are student loan programs to make sure people can go. You can disagree with the way grants and loans are structured, you can argue they are too costly to pay back given time value of money features, you can try to craft other ways to make it workable or affordable. Santorum thinks of none of this. We can't have a President who glorifies ignorance. On that front Newt, the college professor and Bachman, who holds a JD ranks better than Santorum.
Michele Bachman got a bad rap and spin because of something her husband does in a religiously oriented clinic reorienting gays. The popular culture has no problem with people who want to reorient their gender like Chas Bono for example. We prefer people realign whatever gender they think they are than be mentally despondent or worse suicidal feeling trapped in another gender. There is a great French movie called Ma Vie En Rose that explores this theme with a young boy. But if a Gay person voluntarily wishes to reorient their sexual attraction the gay community seems to think that something of an insult. This, I don't get. What Michele Bachman's husband does has a market because he has clients who wish his services. He meets a need of some. There are in fact some gay people who wish that they could reorient their sexual attractions. They have free will also. Gays who wish to remain so or think that they have no choice in the matter should not condemn them or anyone helping them. So this rap for something a candidate's spouse does is unfair.
And we don't look at hobbies, habits and the ways spouces of other candidates make a living do we? We don't seem to blame Santorum because his wife does no job outside the house except maybe bake sales at church.
Cultural attitudes about people who think gayness is not immutable are as discriminatory as people who discriminate against gays. Just because some gay people believe God made them immutably that way does not mean all gays do. There are in fact many gays who have oriented themselves to opposite sex attraction, married, have natural children. Many many of them. Should we discriminate against those Americans because they didn't want to stay gay?
None of the Republican Presidential candidates are for married gays (neither was Bill Clinton by the way) so I can't say she is worse than any of them on that front.
Michele Bachman is a very strong candidate who embraces what the Republicans stand for. I don't like a lot of what they stand for but I would like them better if they liked Bachman more. She is a strong educated woman, a tax attorney who practiced law, a Congresswoman and a mother who raised children. She can bake cookies, stand by her man like Tammy Wynette, run a law practice, help run a clinic, be a Congresswoman and run for President. YOU GO GIRL.

American Barnstorming
In a Town Named After French Monks.
I wonder if Mitt Romney knows that Des Moines in Iowa is a French name. A Moine is a Monk or Friar in French. I wonder if he realizes that large portions of the breadbasket of America were settled by the French who came down the Saint Lawrence and up the Mississippi and that the Mid-West is full of French names. In Fact, prior to the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 from Napoleon one third of the Continental US, the land from the Mississippi West almost to the Rockies was under Napoleanic control and rule with massive numbers of french settlers. There was a 'French and Indian War' Gingrich probably knows about. There are towns named things like Saint Louis (after a French Saint King) and Duquesne and Des Moines, to name only a few of the hundreds. There are Americans with surnames that are originally French and other Irish ones that were originally Norman. Our French heritage is proud.
So it is beyond a bit funny that we have someone who wants to be President who thought as an American Mormon he should go to France to missionize them.
This becomes less funny and less comfortable if you realize that this mentality translates into a Foreign Policy orientation and when you realize someone as a young 20-something was so patronizingly arrogant he thought that he could teach the French Catholics anything about Jesus. What Mormons believe about Jesus is not exactly orthodox Christianity of any denomination. Perhaps this is why seventyfive percent of his party is a bit troubled with him being their leader- to where exactly? Mormons can be fierce bigots against Catholicism.
Mormons like any cult protect their own. Mitt Romney is worth half a billion dollars.
Mormons generally think Catholics are idolotrous heretics with a cultlike affection for Mary. That should give Catholics and all Christians pause, because he isn't investing half a billion personal dollars in anything Catholic Social Services believe me.
And he isn't hiring out of the John Carroll Society either. If your greatest virtue is that you can turn profit, and are sober, I want to hear more than you are a good business guy who built your own net worth into half a bil. Which are your favorite charities for example?
And the Republican discrimination and aversion to things French has to stop. It is appaulingly ignorant. Don't get me started on Freedom Fries. The French, particularly Chirac was absolutely corect that the Iraq war was based on pretexual lies and the UN Colin Powell presentation an absurd photoshopped fabrication on the WMD front. Even Colin Powell is embarassed. (dumb move for Gingrinch to start naming already people who had anything to do with the Bush Admin Iraq fiasco for anything )- Sarkozy's mother is Jewish by the way which makes him technically Jewish. So if any of the anti-French Republican disorder pervading conservative politics
is based on catering to a Jewish belief that France is anti-semetic, get serious. What a sadly ignorant perspective on what the country of France is. Sad and Stupid.
Mitt might be the nominee but he isn't the President. No amount of voting fraud or voter IDs is going to make it so.

Where Are All The
Aborted Fetus Cemetaries?
We have had about 50 Million abortions in America since Roe v. Wade. So where are all the little buried fetuses? Where are their gravestone markers? You would even bury a dead pet and there are pet cemetaries, but where are the Fetus Cemetaries? What's that? You say there are none? Why is that? Because there is a market for the discarded 'afterbirth' of unbirthed placenta and fetal parts- they are valuable for their stem cells, and there is a billion dollar pharma research stem cell industry of companies who are raking in hundreds of millions in venture capital to create new pharmaceuticals out of this research. It is an industry. It is largely under the radar and unregulated at the research level. No ban on stem cell research means the market is all the more thriving. And who benefits? Abortion mills. Planned Parenthood.
In Maryland late term abortion doctors were arrested for murder this week. Because it is. It
is blood money.
http://news.yahoo.com/2-abortion-providers-charged-murder-md-230809522.html
This is why people like Michele Bachman are very agitated at ObamaCare having for the first time in it under the radar benefits for Planned Parenthood in any form of federal subsidy for abortions. I saw the most disturbing ad recently wherein abortion was called "abortioncare."
There is nothing 'caring' about Abortion.
The choice is to have Sex or Not. The mass societal delusion that says it is a constitutional right to have sex without natural consequences is demonic- and it has taken over party platforms.
It is a woman's right to choose- to have sex or not. When you have another human you have been given physical guardianship over, it becomes an issue that its fellow citizens have a say about.
If the Democratic Party wasn't totally hijacked by the abortion on demand mentality the Republicans would be getting a lot less play now. This is inciting the base against the ObamaCare that looks like slight of hand scammery to benefit the abortion industry- and yes, it is an industry. That industry promotes wild promiscuity and death- for obscene profit.

Le Cathedral

de Le Havre.
Do you think civilization existed here prior to the Mormon mission invasion of Romney?
Turns out Le Havre is the second largest port town in France, the first being Marseilles.
Turns out I was actually in Le Havre during the Vietnam War because the Hovercraft from Dover England went to Le Havre or Calais- so if you went not by air but by Hovercraft after taking a train from London to Dover to get to Paris, you could go through Le Havre. They also have a train station that has been there since prior to the Mormon Romney invasion. This was prior to the Chunnel which is now a high speed train that goes right under the English Channel so you can take a train from London to Paris now. Imagine that. The French have a sophistocated high speed train system that can go under water. In fact, they have been trying to sell it to us so we can become as modern as the French but there is an odd political aversion to things French mass transit in America because during the German occupation trains took Jews to camps. So the SNCF can't even sell us peanuts for the political pressure and intrinsic anti-french sentiments that absurdly pervaid Congress.
In the seventies where in America did we have a Hovercraft ferrying people to other countries?
Who knew, well, Thank God for those Mormons. Le Havre was badly bombed by the Germans during WWII and so much of it was rebuilt. I sincerely doubt that Romney ran into any apartments without indoor plumbing. Note to file- send someone there to see if they remember any door knocking Mormons trying to convert anyone at this Cathedral. Are you kidding Mitt?
Romney's

Roustabout
I am a fair minded person. I am willing to see what a Mormon can do that doesn't disparage Catholics from someone who spent two years trying to convert them in a civilization older than the text they call holy called the Book of Mormon.
But, give me a break please. Marie Antoinette? First of all, gag me with a maggot, Mitt Romney's broken french accent is ridiculously appauling. For someone who spent two years in any foreign country to have an accent that bad is just moronic. It means he doesn't have an ear or doesn't listen. It's the typical ignorant bruttish American accent that has everyone running for cover.
France has one of the oldest Christian traditions in the Western world with some of the finest cathedrals that rank among gothic architectural world wonders. France is the envy of the world in cathedral architectural wonders. Can you imagine an American Mormon walking door to door in Le Havre France so arrogant he thinks he can 'convert' the poor french catholics?
Stop the French bashing- it looks so ugly you can't believe how stupid you look.

ps. I don't speak Chinese, but if Huntsman's Mandarin or Cantonese accent is as bad as Romney's French accent, I expect them all to attack us just to make us shut up.
Happy New Year
To Waterford Ireland!
The ball that will fall in Times Square is a Waterford Crystal ball, and Waterford is Irish.
Not kidding. It is actually a town in Ireland. You didn't know that? Waterford Crystal is an Irish success story. Google it.
Waterford is not far from Kilkenney. Google Butler, Kilkenney Castle Ireland.
We Love this Country.

Gingrich Preaching-the Ames Games
To The Choir
In a midmorning meltdown today Gingrich spoke tearfully about his mother who used to sing in the choir as he glanced winkedly over to Calista his wife who now sings with the National Basillica Choir in Washington, DC. He spoke of his mother before a group of mothers at Java Joes in Ames.
This should be endearing but it looked really soft. I should like Calista because she sings in the choir and I appreciate greatly good music, especially liturgical chorale singing. I have sung a bit myself in choirs (before a Cardinal even) and have a trained mezzo soprano voice. But I can't get around to any warmth for Calista. Sorry. I have tried. Here's why. She can't shake the Capitol Hill staffer tramp moniker- the small town girl who slept her way to the top carelessly homewrecking while secretly sleeping with the guy persecuting the President for his relatively speaking minor indescretion. Is the sin lack of discretion or actual adultery? Also, the angle shots on her wicked witch of the West nose angle
look really scary. How does someone with a half a mil. Tiffany's account not figure out that she needs a nose job. OK that was mean.
It just should not be rewarded, this homewrecking sort of political whoreishness. Sorry- we have all had the chance, more or less to do something stupid like sleep with a powerful married guy and if we slipped we slapped the sense back to ourselves and didn't let temptation turn into something that destroyed other people's lives- or at least that is what a lot of women are going to think of themselves. They would hope better for their daughters. And in keeping with the many illusions of who Gingrich wants you to think he is, she is peddling now a children's book when she didn't have any. When I told my mother that she said- well, isn't she OLD? No, she is still in her 40s, and tries illusorily to look older with that helmet hair fake blonde McLean do from the 60s. Are you kidding?
She started messing around with a guy twenty years older when she was in her 20s. If she wanted kids she could have had kids. And now she is trying to be a first lady peddling her children's book?
My grandparents were from Iowa. Jessup and Grinnell. They met at Grinnell college as freshmen. If I pulled a Calista I would have been disinherited. Are you kidding?
So sorry, but this is just not First Family material. Appoint Gringrich on the oversight board of the NIH so he can champion mental health research. His campaign is over.

look really scary.
It's Still Christmas
For 8 days after the 25th.
Remember the 12 days of Christmas song? We are still in the Christmas Season. I love it- like Easter is actually a 50 day season. I never want it to end. Really Christmas should be something you get all year.
Things that should stick with you all year-
Jesus was born in a Manger. This should tell you that you can make a home for an infant out of pretty much anything. They are really small. You can make do with what you have for a new life, even a bed out of a basket for an infant, so you are not too poor to deliver a child who will make you more spiritually rich than you can imagine for all the love that will come. More than that, it should tell you that Jesus is food. What? Jesus doesn't do anything not on purpose for a reason.
He was born in a Manger- which is a feeding trough for sheep. He would become food- real food.
And its really funny-he would talk parables about sheep and sheepherders and reference himself as the good shepherd, and there he is in a feeding trough for sheep and other animal life. The shepherds in the field would come to visit this infant, sleeping in a sheeps feeding trough. Jesus has a sense of humor.
Get it??
Another thing that sticks with me is that Jesus died after only living about 33 years on earth, dying in the prime of life. It hit me that when he feeds us he is feeding us blood that was
earthly blood in the force of vigor of the prime of life. Are you looking for the fountain of youth?
He is the Gift that Keeps on Living. In the force of vigor of the prime of life. You want to stay young? Go to daily Mass. You can have Christmas all year.

Ten Things
You are going to be kicking yourself you didn't do.
Remember we had a census taken when Obama was in office just a while ago. Weren't you amazed at how efficient they could track everyone down. You got a form from uncle Sam under your door and you had to fill it out and send it in or someone would actually come a knockin.
So how hard would it have been to affix a government ID to that form with instructions that if you want to turn it into a formal government ID with a photo go to your nearest post office with a photo and for free they will affix it to the form (like a sort of domestic passport). If you don't have a photo you like, the post office will take one for you. Or you can upload it onto some government webpage and then print the form. Voila. How hard is that. Then a government ID isn't like a poll tax, because its free and the govt. is sending you the form. They could even affix a change of address form to walk to a post office if your address changed before an election or for registration purposes.
That's the No.1 thing you didn't do- you can think of the other 9.
If everyone gets some government ID for free (like to pick up your tax refund they will process one, or to get any sort of government benefit you get one, for free, etc...) then who is complaining. If you are alive and eating you can get a free government ID. How hard is that?
Real
Memorex or Just Made Up?
The words describing Gingrich's decline are amusing: cratering, tanking, plummetting, etc.
Its as if the press totally fell for whatever he flung out there for them to spin silly, then started to feel wierd for falling for the game.
There is so much about Gingrich that is just illusion, any journalist covering him has to question their journalistic integrity for thinking anything credible. Start with how his name is pronounced. It apparently, according to his step sister is not the way we have always been saying it. Its more like Gingrick (rhymes with.) And the clincher- his step sister is gay and married in a gay marriage. So much for family harmony. Family values, except for wives no. 1 and 2.
There's more. He champions himself as a Southern conservative. He's from Pennsylvania originally. He did a stop in Georgia and maintains a mansion in McClean, one of the fanciest subburbs of DC where he and his lovely wife have resided for a while now. He's from Georgia like the cookie monster is from the North Pole. His accent is about as Southern as Santorum's. He said in comparing Romney to him that Romney is a New England moderate and he is a 'Georgia Conservative." Except he lives in Virginia, and was born in Pennsylvania.
He thinks anyone who took money from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac like Barney Frank should go to jail. Except he did, but not for influence peddling, for being a strategic historian. Right.
And what about the rant against the Judiciary? He would haul Judges into the oval office or Congress, or (dunno, maybe the Smithsonian?) if they don't write opinions he likes? At least Santorum is an attorney actually and respects the rule of Law. So is Mitt- at least a Harvard JD with an MBA. You won't hear really totally whackadoodle nonsense like that from either of them.
Santorum hasn't thought through some positions he holds strong religious views on but at least he respects the Judiciary. You can't see in a million years Newt being the head of anything that appoints Judges or runs the Justice Department. His main experience with Justice was Divorce Court apparently.
I could go on, but why bother. Not my dog fight this time. And I do mean dog fight.

Occupy DC and the Fourth Amendment
Today C-span ran the oral arguments on an important case involving Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights and prohibitions under the Constitution-for jails/prisons. Not sure if it was a rerun or if
all the yorkie pudding and egg nogg merriment is overwith and they are all back to work there.
The case involved a guy who was arrested and picked up for not paying a fine (a court fine presumably from another charge) and was incarcerated. There he was subjected to a strip search.
It sounded from the oral argument like it involved some sort of 'squatting and coughing' to expel any contraband he may be depositing in his derriere. They also discussed oral cavity searching but I am not sure if this particular class was so subjected. What a sight to see Scalia asking the attorney if he was supposed to write an opinion on 'squatting and coughing.' Might use other words, perhaps, jette, torgette and plea.
My couch potato C-span watching was preceeded by a quick read of today's Examiner in which it was remarked that twice as many parking fines are given in DC than in NY, which is an abominable statistic given the comparable square footage. This reminded me not only of the
'get a life' parking ticket cruisaders who will ticket anything with a non diplomatic plate for kicks
in the tires, but also of the fiasco a few years ago in which the DC cops DUI machines were proven so defective that they were giving horrendous amounts of false reads provoking wrongful arrest litigation (preceeded by hideous wrongful arrests.) Imagine getting arrested for not paying parking fines, dragged to the DC jail, strip searched and subjected to a 'squat and cough' regime to see if you stuffed your car registration or something more marketable down your trousers. Could actually happen. Don't laugh. Could actually happen to Scalia or Roberts. Still, don't laugh.
And have you seen the coverage of pepper spraying in the Occupy camps across the country and arbitrary arrests for protesting while unemployed?
I finally got up the nerve to check out the DC Occupy campsite in McPherson Square- provoked by the mean article in the same Examiner that begs Obama to shut the mess down before they start actually lobbying for whatever it is that they are upset about. Probably everything. I admit I didn't spend a lot of time hanging around there because it basically looked like the regular homeless guys mooching off the protesters' Tea Tent goodies. I was glared at by the tall white Rostablonde dude who hasn't cut his hair since Eisenhower was in office (no, he wasn't born then, since Nixon resigned maybe.) The sign says beware, there are occupiers there- meaning what? We will assault you for wandering? I got suspicious glares like I was either the undercover Cagney and Lacey or a Nun (yes, I know it is a floor length black coat but it is Jones of New York not Vatican issued.) Undeterred I delivered my signature mini-cupcakes in egg cartons- they looked hungry. Then I laughed to myself as I hoped no one would think it a 'let them eat cake' mockery. Next time I will put some protein powder in the mix so its more nutritional.
I thought of my tall white blonde rastafriend getting picked up by capital police and thrown in the clink and forced to strip, squat and cough. Perhaps a cupcake will come squirting out. Perhaps they will force him to "lift his genitals" (actually those words were discussed in oral argument at the Supreme Court). That will teach you for protesting a twenty five percent unemployment rate among Veterans! (or whatever you are protesting!)
In my Lion on the Wizzard of Oz Moment (remember him singing "If I were King Of The Forrrrrrrest!) I say, if I were sitting on the Supreme Court, I would say nobody gets to lift anyone's genitals for anything not supervised by medical personnel and a priest for confession for watching.
Seriously. Prisons must be the most brutal abusive envionments that exist in this country.
If people who are not convicted of anything yet (just arrested) are subjected to this, we are all in trouble. Even Scalia runs a few red lights.

Presque Prete
Almost Ready
I am dreaming of a White Christmas -
as White as a spring Wedding dress.
Sugarplum fairies and marzipan angels
dancing elves in pancake factories
red berries tossed over holy leaf fruitcake
and stockings drooping heavily around a chimney
Carols sung in foreign languages
as Bing Crosby smiles from heaven
and the little children brush the snow off their little red sleds
I am dreaming of a White Christmas
and other miracles in my head.

Advent Reflection
Dragon Software
And the Great Commission.
There is a program of software which allows one to merely speak wearing microphone headsets and it registers exactly what you say on your laptop. It is voice recognition software. It has existed in military technology for a while before it went to the public at large. It is trippy to watch- how does it know!
This brings us closer to how prayer telepathically works. Do you think God can't hear you with a headset? Don't you think when he invented prayer he knew how to program the atmosphere to register what you were saying somewhere? Maybe a minion of angels manages the AIM interface.
This also brings me to the biblical command that if you 'confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord' he is. God is famous for speaking things into being- from the beginning. So obviously he wants you to speak your affirmation of his salvation to seal the deal.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord....you will be saved. Not kidding. That's how it works in the ionosphere that God created. Something mandatory about speaking truth.
It works the same way with relationships on earth. You have to confess Love to get it back the way you want it. You can't imagine everyone reads eyes and minds. You have to say it like it is and it will be.
That is how it works on earth as it is in heaven.

DENIAL
Is Not A River In Egypt.
My mother used to say that. This timeless mother wisdom aptly applies to Cain who astoundingly is wondering if he should still be the President of the Free World. I wonder if he
even knows where Egypt is actually. Somewhere near Uzbeckybeckybeckystansky maybe.
This latest revelation of the 13 year alleged affair with someone who clearly at one point enjoyed a mutually caring relationship behind Cain's wife's back on top of the harassment allegations should have the party 'leadership' having a serious discussion with the Danny Crain meglomaniac of junk fast food and fast women to tell him to get a life. But apparently no such 'leadership' exists. No, this should not be the private life decision of just one privately scorned wife who might just not care where her Herman stashes the family jewels. It should be the business of any leadership that should exist. Lets see if they do.

Loose Canon
Another word for 'Undisciplined'
Which is what Harkin apparently is calling Gingrich- who looks it merely due to his weight issue which isn't a wide angle lense problem. He looks like a heart attack waiting to happen with the protruded belly- I would get serious nutritional attention, the kind that Clinton got after his heart attack and radically alter the diet. Go macrobiotic.
But I digress.
The problem with the big idea man is that some of them are looney tooney. The problem with the economy is not that 12 year olds from the ghetto aren't cleaning other people's toilets. Child labor laws are generally a good thing, and especially when protecting children from hazardous jobs, like cleaning other people's toilets in an age of AIDS. Get serious. Sometimes you want to applaud him for boldness and other times you want to shout 'Are You Kidding!'
No, kids age 12-13 should be focused on reading and homework, or working on science projects for the school science fair or advancing their sports skills, not looking to clean toilets.
High School kids apparently do get jobs of all kinds- and always have. I did. Generally thought to be a good thing to intern or get paid developing some talent or skill by that age as supplement to education. Work study programs exist in most colleges. Something you might imagine a history professor should know about.
So Gingrich's fly by the seat of your overalls works sometimes and sometimes just makes him look moronic- like this time when one wonders how involved he was in his own children's rearing if he could send a 12 year old into someone else's toilets. Where are his kids by the way? Are they
gagging that this is the guy who dumped their mother for Papal Barbie or do they like their Dad?
