Properly done confession can serve as spiritual healing. Priests can be profound spiritual healers. "It's free therapy" my mother used to say. You can get a load off by telling it like it is-and the Priests for the most part are not there to judge you but to bring clarity to move forward-

So these apps crack me up- this one lists 400 sins and classifies them into venial and mortal. If you have to go to an app to know you are in mortal sin I have to wonder about you.
But, this is an 'evil and adulterous generation' and spiritual blindness comes with the territory. Perhaps people only believe their depravity when it is staring them in the face from their i-phones. But seriously folks, there is no replacing a real flesh and blood priest. I had one even lay hands on my head in the confessional to try to cure me of the hurts that inspired a lack of forgiveness. Laying hands on the spiritually sick is totally scriptural and works. Try getting your i-phone to do that.
