Avoid the Political Firestorm Fallout
If ever there were a doubt that the whole Democratic women's 'establishment' favor funding of abortions it came out in their statement sent via mass email that they were happy that the Komen funding decision was reversed. Because the money going to Planned Parenthood is not specifically anywhere earmarked, restricted or alloted for preventing cancer. Planned Parenthood
comits abortions. They do not medically advise on cancer issues- they tell the inquiring person where to go- literally. They do 'mammogram referals' which means a girl calls saying I found a lump, can I get a mammogram and the receptionist (not a doctor) looks at the list in front of them and tells them the two nearest hospitals or services that do provide mammograms. So the Komen money is not going toward cancer prevention. GET SERIOUS.
Shouldn't the government now be looking at funding clinics that actually do that? Wouldn't that be awesome. Instead of having to go to GW hospital and paying $2,000 out of pocket if you are not insured for a five second ultrasound reading of a breast lump, or a mammogram you could get one at a free government clinic. The defunct closing post offices provide ideal space, already owned by the government to set up such clinics. And while they are at it, how about free dental clinics for the poor. Do you have any idea how many elderly are walking around without their teeth in this country because they cannot afford to get implants or proper dental care so don't see dentists for years???
Why are there no cost studies on comparing what the government can do itself in health care with its own facilities (it has it for Vets like Walter Reed and Vet hospitals, why not free health clinics for other people) where there is actual accreditation, auditing and accountability going on and standards of care and hygiene are met and there is no monetary incentive to coerce abortions. If there is such a public health system, and no monetary incentives to coerce abortions, then fewer and fewer will use it as birth control because there will not be the kind of psychological manipulation and dulling of natural conscience surrounding the issue. If abortions were not so profitable do you think there would have been sixty million of them? What little girl do you know grows up and says I want to have an abortion? Society has in the last forty years desensitized the conscience to make sex more acceptable outside marriage and in an irresponsible manner detached from one's natural biology. Who do you think profits from this
set of confluent influences? Why in the world would the government want to be duplicitous in it?
Set up free women's health clinics that actually do serve the underserved in real clinics, not fronts for abortion mills.
