and the Rule of Law.
At the end of 2010 Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts decried the seriousness of the stonewalling of the Judicial nomination process (now by Republicans) to a point that it really is jeopardizing the administration of Justice in this country. It has profound affect in a number of areas and communities. It means untenable backlogs, among other difficulties and justice delayed is justice denied. It also means extreme hardship sometimes for plaintiffs lawyers to hang on that long and finance their lives on contingency.
So how are we doing so far with all the stonewalling ??
Thanks to the Alliance for Justice I got the statistics (and the cool graphic above-Grazie!)
There are still-- 103 federal judicial
vacancies
vacancies
86 in Federal district courts
17 in circuit courts
There have been 42 nominees
to the federal bench
to the federal bench
33 for district courts
9 for circuit courts
20 awaiting Senate confirmation
(Data as of 2/23/2012,)
How hard would it be to get the confirmation done on 20 people? What are you waiting for and what else do you need?
