If not sending any controversial or even offensive emails is the nomination criteria I wouldn't be nominated secretary of the soda machine. It is one's moral obligation to be controversial at times I would argue. But Diaz is a safe bet for Obama who offends no one on the pro-life score.
His academic credentials are impecable and his theology soundly orthodoxly old-school catholic.
He is sure to have never fallen in love with a priest, and never championed the married priesthood option nor pushed the envelope on any women's rights to do anything more than what we already do. At least that is the impression. He will be a good- kiss the ring and shut up stand up guy. I can't imagine who would oppose him and I expect the John Carroll Society to invite him to their annual dinner at the Four Seasons in the Spring to give him an honorary degree.
