OBAMAs WATERLOO?

Or Clinton's Last Stand.

The entire Meet the Press sunday show is reproduced on Fox online news:

The jury is still out so long as Ghadaffi is taunting us from his mobile tent covered with human shields.
Clearly the unstated goal is 'regime change' even though the WH spokespeople keep saying (and looking like forked tongued double speakers) that Khadaffi is not a target. Last night they blitzkriegged his compound- so clearly they want him gone- and are banking on it. Clearly that suits John Kerry sitting in Egypt fine because he doesn't want any Khadaffi influence flowing into any other neighboring country-unstable as they are now and subject to extremist influences that could derail democratic impulses.

Regime change is of course better in our interests as Khadaffi isn't much of a friend and has been tyranical, but the two faced double speak is losing us credibility everywhere. For one thing, the Arab League backing which is being touted as making all the difference is likely to quickly dissolve and be disavowed once they start seeing what the real game plan was and the UN hard line open ended resolution looks deceptively machavelian. They are already saying essentially you didn't tell us this was the plan and we didn't agree to the scope of that.

It would ultimately be a great thing if the Egypt, Libya, Tunesian coast all favored us, commercially and politically, but the ends justifying the means looks a bit Soviet declasse and is easy for Republicans to politically capitalize on 'why didn't you get a declaration of war before bombing the hades out of them?'

Hillary is trying to look too aggressively hawkish and it looks like a posture to run Presidentially again to play to the republicans who say dems are too soft militarily-she is overcompensating. She may be trying to avoid a Rwandesque massacre- which is the only potential excuse for this sort of pre-emptive strike on someone who never struck us first. It's the Bush Doctrine disguised as a 'humanitarian' pre-emptive first strike.

We are embroiled now in a civil war . What Doctrine should we call that? If Gates actually does pass the baton to others are we left unvulnerable now for having bombed the be-youknowWho out of Libya? Three days and we better be out of there-
Your turn Sarkozy.
