Religious Liberty

and George Washington

The oldest Jewish synagogue and congregation in America is in Newport Rhode Island. Touro Synagogue. George Washington wrote a very famous letter vowing to them his commitment to preserving religious liberty in the new Republic. They cherish this letter and read it every year in August (at the height of Newport tourist boating season to a crowd) http://www.tourosynagogue.org/index.php/history-learning/gw-letter

The commitment to Religious Liberty is so foundational to our founding, if that's not a redundancy, because the first immigrants largely fled religious persecution and wanted to live in peace and freedom- meaning simply, not locked up for their beliefs. Freedom has come to mean a lot of things as politicians distort its meaning and language to suit their purposes- like Freedom for Iraqis which meant an invasion and occupation and massive slaughter. Nice going, Freedom.

But religious freedom meant something different in America than anywhere- particularly anywhere in Europe where camps of particular religions established themselves in towns so that if you were not the right religion for the particular town or region, you couldn't really make a living and ended up destitute or worse, doing criminal things to eat, or just locked up for not paying fines for not attending religious services (such as Anglicans imposed against Catholics under a penal regime if you can imagine) or just plain slaughtered in territorial power grabs.

That is why in America every major religion has cherished this Freedom of Religion thing, held it as close to their heart as a priest carrying an exposed eucharist, and understood that this was the hill that they would die on if they had to. The 'Becket' Fund that is fighting the health care litigation is named after a legitimate Martyr in the ecclesiastical conflict with the State of his day.
There could not be an issue that touches more on what the church is about than the fight against abortion in America in this century. The annual March for Life this year packed the Verizon Center with spill over into the RFK Stadium even on a gray rainy day and another crowd packed the Shrine and Saint Matthews. The reversal of the cultural acceptance of abortion is a Number 1 priority of the Bishops in this country -has been for years- and they devote massive amounts of resources, time and energy to trying to get the message out to young people and women about the real hazards and life interests at stake. Catholic lay people fund and work in pregnancy centers, they run post abortive counseling services and have 'pro life' offices or efforts in virtually every parish.
So there could not be a more In Your Face affront to the Bishops - catholic clergy everywhere in America, than over the forced coverage of drugs that cause abortions or contraceptions even.
The wink wink nudge nudge so called 'compromise' in which insurance companies allegedly pick up the tab just means they pass the cost back in raised premium prices. Everyone has figured that one out already- if the Government can't pay for it, insurance companies are not going to eat it- they have to pass the cost on somewhere and it is to the insureds. That is why you hear comments like 'cynical political ploy' or 'accounting gimmick' describing the compromise and the Bishops are not fooled. It is still an In Your Face move.

The Reproductive Liberty, so called is not threatened by having to buy your own abortion drugs. So there really is no competition of rights here. First of all, an abortion is always elective.
So is contraception. Heck, sex is elective. It is not mandatory. Especially when you are not married and the guy hasn't even paid for dinner yet. Not mandatory. Not even particularly always smart.
Should premiums have to be raised because women believe nose jobs necessary and your local catholic hospital has to cover it because a really bad large nose will destroy a woman's self esteem which leads to obesity then diabetis? You could take this argument anywhere.

The women who have been brain washed and hoodwinked by the capitalizing Planned Parenthood abortion milliners into thinking that it is their right to abort with morning after pills for the debauched evening where they wish they didn't let it get that far so use such pills as birth control should not be subsidized by people with a brain. Sorry to be so blunt- but why is the government insisting on subsidizing stupidity? I do not believe 98 percent of catholic women or all women use birth control. First of all, all catholic women are not sleeping with people before they get married. Some do have virtue and common sense. Secondly, some do practice the old fashioned head-ache or rhythym method. Some have husbands with jobs and travel. Everyone is not on birth control, nor does everyone want to be.

Any legislative fiat that declared contraception 'preventative' should be required to clarify which types. Condoms can prevent AIDS- pills don't. The overgeneralizations of definitions are obscuring the argument.

Lastly, why is a private billion dollar monopolistic corporation, Planned Parenthood getting a red cent from the government, or from insurance companies under a federal mandate at all?
You have to really wonder where we have all gone off the rails and where are your cahoonas
being bullied around by Planned Parenthood like that?

I find Donald Wuerl to be about as warm and fuzzy as a popcycle in Siberia and slightly more machavellian than a Medici-I don't like that they scheduled the Bishops conference to dovetail with the CPAC conference in the same hotel in Washington-I think he is running for Pope and while I have no evidence to support it think he would throw his grandmother under the bus to get the ring everyone kisses- but I am standing with all the Bishops on this one.
Because if you don't- then they can shred up George Washington's letter to the Newport Touro Synagogue.

THE GOP

And the White Supremacist.

First let me note that to be on the program and on a panel at the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) you had to be approved by the leadership.
So no one gets on the program who is not vetted and approved. Now look who they featured on a panel and tell me that there are not fundamentally racist roots in this Party. Who is speaking against this in the party? Not Breitbart who went on a long rant against anyone who played the race card- because he thinks it a frivolous concern. Scary people. Really scary. And it flows in the xenophobia that colors immigration policy. It is very odd that this is the party of the Right
Wing religious zealots who pull the chains of the highest religious figures in the land in some cases.

Soyez Gentil

Be Nice

I revert to my mother's wisdom when I feel a little down, like I do when I hear of the passing of Whitney Houston prematurely at age 48. What an incredible life and a sad ending. People will speculate that she OD'ed either voluntarily or involuntarily.
You never know when someone you love is going to leave you. So be nice. Just be nice. To everyone. Lives are delicate and you don't know what balance they hang on. They may be just trying to hang on. So you should just be nice. Always.

White-

Washington the Message

White-Washingtoning the message.
The Republican party still has an old guard that use the "N" word behind closed doors. These same people might have 'mixed' relatives but not on purpose and they don't get invited to the family Thanksgiving dinner. The racist undercurrent of the GOP is never more evident than when you gather a bunch of their grass roots in one large Mormon owned hotel chain for an annual event of wheeling deeling whooplahing. Looking around the mob scene one observes a handful of orthodox Jewish people (OK, 3) Howard Fineman, and one lone elegant African American holding a Newt 2012 sign. The rest of the hundred of masses yearning to breathe free were whiter than the driven snow. This, you might say is just coincidence as they have people like Allan West on stage. Don't forget that guy Steele who was the head of the Republicans last year. Then you look at the program and note that that they dedicate a break out session to the 'Failure of Multiculturalism and Diversity' and realize this is not by accident. They dedicate a meeting room to this and put it in the bulletin. Not to play the race card, but where are all the darker than my freckles people? The rap that the Republicans are the White-Washingtonian party is not, it seems all that inaccurate.
Reagan was invoked by nearly all of them at some point on the stump as the standard bearing icon. Reagan was nearly universally reviled by the people who disliked his insensitivity to racial justice matters who remember him more for calling ketsup a vegetable than for bringing down the fall of the Evil Soviet Empire or his Space program. All hail the great white leader from across the country who parachutted into Washington doesn't sit well with the African Americans who have called the place home for generations and didn't particularly think a white guy from California had any better idea for how they should run their life. Republicans it seems are going to nominate someone (unless Newt gets a third wind) who belongs unapolagetically to a 'church' (not really)
that openly discriminated against African Americans until 1978 and who still have undercurrents of the bad theology in a deep seated racist attitude in their psychological history. Anyone who really understands how racist the Mormon church is should be scared out of their minds that the Republicans are going to nominate a Mormon for President. In Mormonworld multiracial couples just both lose their jobs. The "America" that they are all clamoring about losing is their vision of the White America where 'multiculturalism' failed. It is on the program.
It's a reality denying America that doesn't see large numbers of Americans or think they fit into the equation. The rage on stage felt more like a confederate mob riot pep rally reviling Obama. It sounded downright hateful at times.

It's why they aren't going to make traction against Obama. At least Newt doesn't want to kick grandmothers out of their beds and send them back to El Salvador.

The Reformation

and Ecumenical Unity

Everyone knows now or should that the great Reformer Martin Luther was a German Augustinian Monk who was a purifier who sought to get rid of the heresy of indulgences used as a financial tool bargaining heaven for contributions to the Vatican building fund. His 95 thesis on the Wittenburg Cathedral are pretty much main stream theology now everywhere. Fewer people know that another major reformer John Calvin was actually a French catholic attorney named Jean Cauvin who thought of becoming a priest but instead became a world renown reformer based in Strasbourg France and Geneva. John Knox studied under him in Geneva and moved back to his homeland Scotland and founded the Presbyterian church- an offshoot of Catholicism as a purifying movement of reform. John Knox was in the thick of the religious controversy surrounding Mary Queen of Scots who was a Catholic vying for the throne of all Great Britain with the English Queen Elizabeth. Mary Queen of Scotts brother was one of the Presbyterian overlords working with Knox to gain Presbyterian prominence in power plays that make the Obama-Catholic drama look tame. People actually lost their heads over these battles then-literally. On July 24, 1587 Mary Queen of Scotts was beheaded and her son James made instant King of Scotland as an infant. Later he also became King of England and is the author of the King James Bible.(compiler, translation authorizer-you know what I mean) I know that date because it is also my birthday. Sometimes over my morning coffee and bible reading I think to myself "I was born the day Mary Queen of Scotts was beheaded." God is funny.

Vatican

THREE

Yes, please. Vatican II seemed to be moving in the right direction. Now we need Vatican III to assess how well we have done and what needs to still be done so that the church is not decades behind the Holy Spirit.

Issues have surfaced that require the people, the actual body of christ, be heard through their various representatives. The catholic church runs like a corporation, the presbyterian church more like a congress. In the catholic church priests get elevated through the hierarchy, people don't get to vote, and its a promotional business model that operates more like crony capitalism. The presbyterian world operates more like congress because congregations actually vote for their leaders. They convene summits and choose pastors with the elders voting after a vetting process. The leadership has to be in some sense not totally unaccountable to the body of christ. The business model of the catholic church is such that no one gets voted off the island. This can create some pretty obstinate characters. It creates stability but all rigidity and when it is wrong it can't admit it.

This is how autocratic regimes work. They are totalitarian with power presumptions that can block the flow of the holy spirit- crush it even, in the name of institutional stability. They have to be studied and accountable every so often.
The perceived 'war with women' that Americans believe that the catholic church is about has a lot to do with the fact that the power structure is all male. Women religious orders are shrinking because it defines 'religious' as someone in a habit with a black cloth on their head. That's not what Jesus thinks of as 'religious' necessarily. Women are not given equal rank in education, position, salary or responsibility. They are not represented in faculties in religious schools as much, they are expected to be the silent benefactors to priests who live in luxury
rather than ministry partners. The married priesthood issue should be examined. It has turned hearts ugly. It is the biggest contraception out there. It blocks the Holy Spirit.
Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the one unforgiveable sin. When the church's rules block out the Holy Spirit it is getting close.

Vatican III- Absolutely. Because don't you think enough harm has been done already?

Culture

Wars

Is that a misnomer? Not when you see a major link between Planned Parenthood, the abortion industry and democratic politics. Not that the Republicans don't have war messes to answer to either. Iraq for example. Clearly an unjust, still unjustified fiasco that did massive murder and destruction. But Democrats should not be so self righteous in their condemnation. Because they fund a death industry too. And it is war, people.
There is a very good movie called The Gift of Life worth watching. It contains footage of a woman who ran a Texas abortion mill flatly stating it was the goal to get women between the ages of 14 and 18 to have at least four abortions because if they could psychologically get use to using it as birth control then they would do it all their life- and cha ching, do the math at $300-700 a hit. Like a mob hit.
If you can normalize murder it gets excused just like in a war when you desensitize people to the reality that they are being held hostage to a murderous ideology serving someone else's profit motive.
This is a war strategy. The Catholic church is in the opposite camp. They are fighting to save the lives of the littliest people. That is why something like those HHS regs that allow morning after pills or things believed to be abortofascient drugs was a non starter and a silly political miscalculation. See the entire C span covered debate held at the Catholic information Center on their site, www.CICdc.org

But the war the catholic church is waging is not against women. Far from it. The people abusing women are the abortionists. There are severe psychological injuries and physical harms done on women in an abortion and the abortion industry suppresses the truth about it. Depression, anxiety, suicide rates are all affected typically. Sending a child you conceived back to its maker is something that haunts women for a lifetime. Like a slap in God's face- and how well do you think that goes over upstairs. The industry preys on frightened vulnerable young women with no support networks typically and instead of offering life sustaining support the 'choice' they can only see optioned is to kill their child. History will look back on this period as barbaric and cruel and yes, even demonic.

So the Democratic party better start paying attention that it cannot be held hostage to the misnamed women's 'rights' people and not have serious consequences electorally. When they start playing like it's everyone's right to abort their child even if they work in catholic institutions, it's a bridge too far to the land of arse-scratching crazy. Americans can be dumb, but not that dumb.

Intellectually

Indefatigable

Newt Gingrich never ceases to amaze and surprise. His policies seem extreme- like lets just get rid of any corporate accountability statutes all together like Sarbanes Oxley which is meant to prevent the sort of accounting fraud that brought down Ken Lay and Enron. He wants to be extreme- the extreme alternative to the moderate Romney. And don't get me started on kids cleaning bathrooms.

But what is fun about him is his wit and intellectual stamina that isn't outdone by the energizer bunny on crack. He is really witty when he says things like we can track down tens of thousands of fed ex and UPS packages and trace them for free but we can't locate thousands of illegal immigrants that are sitting down. Funny. He says things easily subject to misinterpretation or distortion and so is too easily misunderstood. Take for instance that remark about giving his Life, Fortune and 'Sacred Honor' or something like that which looked downright zooey odd to people. Turns out he was actually quoting a founding father and the quote appears in one of the Citizens United movies- so you had to get the reference to understand that he wasn't asking us all to be his fourth wife, as John Stewart joked.

And these movies. With all the trash talk about Newt, and with all the campaign finance scandal the Citizen's United case brought to the game, those Citizen's United documentaries or docudramas are really good productions. Newt likes to tell stories. He is a history buff- you do always learn something when you watch a movie he directed or narrated. The one on Reagan called Rendezvous With Destiny should be mandatory High School history class showing. Gingrich, you can tell, really loved Reagan. In hindsight, this was the President who was able to negotiate the end of the Cold War without a massive bloody WWIII- fairly peacefully. A piece of the menacing Berlin Wall torn down full of graffitti stands in the Reagan library yard in Simi Valley California. I saw it. This is the President who with the assistance and/or guidance of Pope John Paul II was able to undermine Communism from behind the Iron Curtain without appeasement. Friendly but Firm. Calling the Empire Evil. Proclaiming it dismantled. It's hard to imagine now but we were locked in a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Block, and we are not now. That is because of Reagan.

Whatever the Republicans do with Gingrich, he will always have a special place as the agitator, the one who wanted ideas and better angels to trump old party money establishment. The Common Man over the Masters of the Universe. The old money guys don't much care for his quixotic in your face style. But if the loud 'we love you Newt' catcalls from the audience at the CPAC screening of RendezVous With Destiny are any clue, we could see a few more upsets before the nominee is coronated. And Newt should see great sales on those Citizens United Movies.

Issue

Not Going Away

More lawsuits filed as people challenge the HHS rule.
I am wondering if folks in the Admin think all women are on birth control in some orwellian drugged state of affairs. The fight isn't worth it people- religious org. should be expanded to include those non profits, legit. 501(C)(3)s including religious educational institutions and hospitals, whose mission is religiously established. It is an easy fix. "Priests for Life" paying for contraception and abortofascients isn't going to happen.

When you feel dumped

Gals Watch this for inspiration- and guys, take lessons.

How Dare You

Explain What You are Really Doing!!

The issue of how much deception abortion providers/Planned Non Parenthood can give to profit off abortion is something that is getting addressed controversially. There are apparently informed consent statutes which require in some states people be told that an abortion can have deleterious psychological repercussions, and that when you mess up your cycle and dramatically alter normal hormonal cycles it increases risks of breast cancer and other things affecting women's health without getting into what you are doing to the dismembered mutilated little being you are afraid to look at in an ultrasound.
There is a very noble organization out there called the Jubilee Law of Life project that Sam Casey directs who is fighting the good fight all across the country. Here is a recently filed brief.
Yes, people should be told the truth, the full truth, and nothing but the truth when it comes to
ripping out heart pulsing little humans from inside their wombs. With all due respect to Olberman, this is not a 'witch hunt.' Abortion providers are financially incentivized into minimizing the risks and actual harms that abortions do -obviously. The witch hunt is against the people trying to get the full facts out. Like more abortions are done every year than exist in the entire city of Philadelphia. Like nearly half the pregnancies in New York City end up dead. Sick, People. Whose the Witch?

http://www.lawoflifeproject.org/sites/default/files/pdf/AAPLOG_et_al_Amicus_Brief_2_6_12.pdf

Choice

Without Knowledge is a Con Not a Choice

There is a basic principle in medicine called 'Informed Consent." This means you have a right to have all the pertinent information regarding your procedures before they are undertaken so the consent that you give to the surgery or procedure is 'informed.' People sign off on 'informed consent' forms and medical malpractice issues can touch on whether the consent was informed for that particular procedure. If you gave informed consent for an appendectomy because your appendix burst and they took out your liver instead, you have a claim for serious medical malpractice if you live to tell it.
If they do abortions and do not fully inform the woman of what exactly she is aborting, e.g. tell you it is but a few cells, or a blob of nothing much, rather than a live little human being, her child, via an ultrasound and all possible graphic explanation, just as they show you x rays before they dare take out a tooth, then the Informed Consent principle is violated. It should in fact be malpractice not to show someone an ultrasound prior to an abortion. If that is not clear it should be statutorily codified nationally.
No good purpose is served by ignorance.
I am in favor of a federal statute that holds that every abortion must be preceeded by an ultrasound or it is malpractice and the woman may sue and get statutory attorney fees.

The New

Normal?

The discussion of the new Texas law in which ultrasounds have to be shown before any pregancy can be 'terminated' e.g. you off your offspring, generated controversy on the view wherein one of the participants announced she has had multiple abortions because she wouldn't have had the capacity to deal with having a child then. This is a defense to offing your offspring? Has it occurred to her, even after the first abortion, that she probably shouldn't be having sex if she wasn't ready to have a child? Why are we coddling stupidity instead of babies??

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/08/sherri-shepherd-abortion-view_n_1262951.html

Americans have lost their blush. They treat sex like eating- its an appetite that has to be gratified. And they have lost the sacred of it in many places and cases. It is part of the 'hook up' culture. Its what is tried to see if a relationship "works out." This is a paradigmal shift from what use to be the norm.
Sex used to be treated so specially that most of the population tried to wait until they were married before they lost their virginity.
I am half a century old now. One of the biggest motivating factors when I was growing up not to have sex was fear of pregnancy out of order with the wrong person. It motivated abstinence and voluntary celibacy.

Body parts are so misused now that the sacred is driven out of them. It is shockingly sad that someone today would feel it not so outrageous to announce on national television that they had multiple abortions- while people just give it a 'oh poor you' pat on the back. This is really a tragic turn in society that public policy has facilitated with the normalization of abortion politics. To have had multiple abortions means you killed off several of your children. When the real gravity of that really hits home to the nation, we are going to have a serious reckoning and it is going to be ugly.

The US Constitution

And Your Idea of Evil

I believe it is wrong and evil to gratutiously go out for sport and hunt down and kill innocent animals by shooting them up in the woods. You don't need them for food, you call it 'sport.' I would no more think that should be permitted in any household than if you shot your dog. I find it abhorent. I find guns abhorent-
But we have a second amendment to the Constitution. The beauty of the country is that I get to have my opinion in my household and you get to have your right to 'bear arms' under current constitutional law protected. The general norm in society at large is not what it is for individual cultures within that society. All Vegans would find that morally abhorent.
All things permissible are not all wise or good.
The church has a subculture within the larger society. The subculture has norms and standards and ethical guidelines which are not those of society at large.
The same is said on the gay marriage debate. The catholic church and conservative evangelicals don't believe it moral or proper. Fine. Don't have it in your subculture or church. I don't shoot animals in my yard. Other people like to shoot deer in the woods. I find that disgusting, and you find gay marriage disgusting. So what. Don't marry a gay person then.
Are you allowed to lobby to try to make your countercultural norms the prevelant law? Sure, but shouldn't you ask everyone in the house whether they think people should be allowed to kill deer in the woods if they want to before you spend their money fighting it? (and by that I don't mean to put any moral judgment on gay marriage- )

Everywhere

Such as like that

And you really don't think we need to improve our education system or need a federal department of education. They do such a good job in South Carolina.

a Moot Point

Gay Divorce?

With California legal machinations over propositions and Supreme Court opinions trumped by Ninth Circuit opinions, is Gay Divorce Moot, or is filing necessary really?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/08/gay-divorce-la_n_1263881.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk2%26pLid%3D134047

The church has a view of marriage as sacramental and defines it as between a man and a woman. What is normal in the church isn't necessarily the norm in society at large. No one expects it to be.
Santorum like all lawyers has pledged to uphold the Constitution and respect the Judicial process. The highest court of the Ninth Circuit which comprises several states indicates that gay marriage is constitutional- and many states back East also agree. Its an equal protection matter.
Why isn't church marriage just called something different so the civil issues, like taxation, etc. which dont concern the church (render unto Ceasar) are defined as something different. Call one secular marriage and one EM, Ecclesiastical Marriage or SM Sacramental Marriage, or HM, Holy Matrimony. If we are just arguing about nomenclature and taxation it is hard to get exercised.
The church can have its stand on the decline of civilization while protecting people's dignity interests by saying, we will perform Holy Matrimony and the state will authorize and perform civil matrimony. The state does not have jurisdiction or authority to tell churchs who they can marry. A priest can refuse to marry anyone he thinks should not be married, straight or gay. If a priest knows someone is sleeping with someone else he can refuse to marry a heterosexual couple and the state cannot make him.
I still don't understand why a fortune was waged fighting this.
Whatever legislative language the state wants to put on 'marriage' it is only ever going to be 'civil' marriage and cannot force the church to do anything to change its definitions or practices.
The constitution however does cover all Americans, straight and gay. And lawyers are pledged to honor it and defend it.

The catholic church of any organization should be sympathetic to single sex people setting up households together because that it what is done universally in rectories everywhere- only men and all men setting up households together. Communally living together. And its for life. So
its like a sexless marriage. There could be gay sexless marriages out there as frequently as heterosexual sexless marriages. Marriage means more than procreation to bear children in most marriages. If that were all there was to it people would all get divorced once the empty nest syndrome hit and all the kids were out on their own. Marriage is an emotional psychological bonding and sharing of responsibilities. Isn't that what happens in all rectories?

What the Hades

Is the Agenda Really

Why the over-reach into catholic institutions? That was the question at the CIC panel discussion last night featuring prominent individuals on the church-state nonestablishment first amendment issues. It got openly partisan, but what really is going on. C-span covered it, check the archives-the House of God was packed.

The Catholic church preaches and believes that to interrupt the fruits of marital intercourse is an evil because it cuts off life. It is the one church (and I have been to a number) that has a view of contraception that is not laissez faire. Unmarried sex is just illicit fornication that can land you in hell if unrepented of.

The big objection concerned the exemption for houses of worship. They claim 'religion' should not just be construed as Houses of Worship- because 'religious institution' is much broader.
In effect, the religion compels them to serve in education and health fields because that is part of the mission. Does the government really want to make Georgetown University and hospital fire all Non Catholic professors and staff or cancel all its medical insurance so as not to comply with the rules? They can't afford to be hit with hundreds of thousands of dollars of fines. How can the government put a fine on this mission? And why should everyone pay for someone else's illicit sexual preferences when others are not engaging in illicit sex, under their rules. When people argue that 'when your church wants to run businesses then they need to comply...." they have it exactly backwards. The 'church' has a mission intrinsic to its philosophy which naturally entails the expression of it's faith's commands to do the things the faith requires of it- healing being a fundamental aspect of it.
For the government to force a contraception mandate on them is too much a cost imposition against their grain.
It would be like the federal government forcing Quakers to at their expense purchase guns to put next to every fire escape in case someone breaks in, while Quakers don't believe and condemn the use of any violence as evil. Doesn't seem right, and constitutionally probably can't do it. Or like forcing Muslims to buy pork, or forcing Jewish congregations to buy icons of Jesus to display because Christians in high office say looking at the picture calms ones nerves.

There are already a few lawsuits out there to try to make the point. Constitutionally not permitted.

Lets take Georgetown for example. Clearly the college is a Jesuit run school, Jesuit faculty teach there, the Jesuit residence is located at the edge of campus, there is a major chapel on campus, the highest offices have catholic lay leaders and clergy and it teaches in the 'Jesuit tradition.' Jesuits run a lot of schools. It is absurd to make these places pay for contraception or abortofascient drugs through insurance or any other way for their workers whether they want them or not. Probably they don't anyway. Absurd and not fair.
Catholics maintain that contraception is 'intrinsically evil' - and they can give you a pile of
encyclicals and canon laws to make the point. It is a central part of their life teaching. Jesus cursed a fig tree for not bearing fruit remember?

The political calculation on this was a bit off. The HHS regulation with the mandates and cost impositions looks too extreme even to people who like the Administration, even to Democrats.
Because it is viewed widely by even liberal catholics as something unpallatable there must have been some other profit motive to it one surmises. Who really profits off this scheme? Follow the money trail on the manufacturers and dispensers of this stuff. Who is really getting paid here?

Here is what else is crazy. Catholic hospitals wouldn't prescribe stuff that they are forced to pay for in these insurance mandates that people buy elsewhere. Moreover, its cost burden gets shared to people who wouldn't touch the stuff. Contraceptive drugs can be very hazardous in terms of side effects. Beloting isn't the half of it- they can cause blood clots that lead to stroke in some cases, they disrupt hormonal cycles to such a degree one believes they may actually contribute to suppressed immune systems, and links to breast cancer are suggested. They are DRUGS, and lots of people prefer not to put artificial pharmaceutical strange chemicals in their delicate systems. Lots of voters. So really, what is it with this 'reproductive freedom' crowd. Seriously. Do you want to lose the White House over them?

Virtue

or Bigotry

That is the question.
Santorum's appeal seems to be predicated on his goodness and decency. Family man who really loves his wife and he has had only one. The other detracting things the conservatives have issues with like his Senatorial earmarking is easily forgiven because that is how the game is played. Santorum appeals to people who take seriously biblical admonitions against licentiousness, fornication, lust and the wayward ways of the sexual revolution off the rails. People who like a guy who raises lots of kids and speaks admirably about a virtuous wife. Lots of those kinds of people make up the heartland of America. They don't particularly like seeing tongues licking strange things plastered all over the internet in tribute to the Ninth Circuit legalizing same sex marriage. It viscerally offends their sensibilities in a way that trumps for them any constitutional argument which is largely over their heads. And they think San Franciscans have all sold their soul to the devil anyway.
But will this capture the mood of the entire country.
Will the glitterbombers get to say how they really feel?

I have always said it would be a great debate to hear Santorum engage Obama on some of the cultural issues. Planned Parenthood for example is an institution that has become so powerful within the Democratic Party that it can rally an entire caucus of congresspeople to trashtalk another private Non Profit who decided not to fund it. I find that over the top ridiculous and disgusting that the party has let this happen to such an organization. Has the Democratic Party sold its soul to the Abortion Lobby? It is a Lobby- and it is an Industry. Doesn't anyone see anything seriously perverse with this? What's next- Planned Parenthood launching an IPO so you can buy stock in aborted fetuses? Sick, people.

There is a fine fault line between creating the neutral space that lets all religions thrive in peace and prosperity and the crushing of any religion in the name of state neutrality. Constitutionally the analysis is complicated.

But what generates all this anti- so called 'elite' sentiment prevelant in Republican politics is that there is a popular belief that basic virtue is being undermined in the name of fairness and the Establishment Clause. That is probably what Romney means when he says he wants to restore the 'soul' of America.

The 'Reagan Democrats' that Gingrich is after he is hoping have this sense of virtue so strongly within them that they will jump party lines to stop the onslaught of imminent persecution perceived of those with certain principles and virtue. You hear people now talking openly about the discrimniation of Catholics which we thought went by the wayside after NINA signs went down.
It is what the 'culture wars' are about.

The smartest thing that Obama can do now is twofold:
Convene a Summit with religious leaders of all denominations and religions to discuss Religious Freedom, and persecution against minority religions around the world (including persecution of Christians in Muslim countries which is real and rampant) and issue clarifying guidelines on the contraception, abortofascient regulations which effectively preclude any religious run institution from having to pay for or cover that. If you go to work at a Catholic Institution, my guess is you know that you are not going to get to get free contraception and it wouldn't bother you. If it did, you might choose not to work there but in another institution that did if you didn't want to pay for it. Some statistics have one in six hospitals in the US being catholic run or affiliated- because healing is a huge part of Jesus' ministry and the catholic church takes it seriously. If one in six hospitals in the country have to provide contraception coverage, or be fined, this is a financial burden that gets passed on to the flock and diverts funding from things that they do believe in- like feeding and housing people adequately. Would you rather the money go toward putting a roof over someone's head or paying for Plan B for some nurse who thinks she might be pregnant and doesn't want to be. Money does not grow on trees, except maybe in China.

Fruit

That Lasts

A strong argument for the celibacy of the priesthood that is offered to explain how priests are not refuting the commandment to 'be fruitful and multiply' has to do with an explanation concerning 'fruit that lasts.' In other words, priests believe that giving up the possibility of generating biological children allows them time and focus to generate 'fruit that lasts'- e.g. holiness, righteousness, wisdom, etc...from generation to generation. They believe devoting themselves to their ministries, teaching, writings, etc. is a form of fruit that satisfies this commandment, and indeed is a higher sort of endeavor than merely procreating. Spiritual fruit if you will so souls last to eternity.

Santorum when he argues that special privileges in society should be given to heterosexuals who marry because procreation is the highest form flies in the face of his own religion which does not so insult single people or deem them less worthy or valuable to society. Is a couple who married years after their procreative capacity expired who are taking care of each other less valuable to society simply by virtue of the tardiness of their marriage regardless of how they serve society? Is someone sitting at home doing piles of laundry more valuable to society than someone who never had children and invented the cure for cancer as a research physician? Come on.
Santorum needs to read more scripture.

And he really needs to stop insulting everyone. Gays aren't interested in incest and single people aren't worthless to society. Seriously, is this what you want 'conservative' to mean?

Santorum's

Stuck on Reverse

Today, The day that the Ninth Circuit came out essentially saying it is unconstitutional to ban gay marriage in California Santorum is reported to be saying
that gay couples do not advance or help society-or something similar.
Could this timing be more off?
Is society advanced or helped by one person? Why not two of the same gender working together. I don't understand him. Yes, society is advanced and helped by anyone advancing and helping society. Does anyone care or know whether Proust was gay and did he advance the arts? What if he had a 'married' partner.
I personally know an elderly gentleman who had major heart surgery around the time that his wife had something of a nervous breakdown and had to leave him during his heart surgery recovery. The gay male couple down the street literally nursed the man to health, made sure he had enough good food to eat, did shopping for him and walked the dog until he got well enough. Gay people are everywhere doing great things for people individually and in couples. What silliness to suggest that a heterosexual couple by virtue of their sex helps better. Some heterosexual couples are all for themselves and don't help anyone. There is also a story today where a married hetero man killed all his kids then himself. Whether you advance society or help people has nothing to do with your sexual orientation or whether you practice it. What about the gay couples who want to adopt kids who otherwise would either not make it or be bounced from foster homes without loving consistent support? He would rather kids be aborted than adopted into gay families?
I don't understand him. Why are people so threatened by this? Can you name me ONE straight person who decided not to get married because gay people want to? Don't get it.

Poverty

And Abortion

You have to really be intentionally ostriching your head in the sand to not appreciate the connections between poverty and abortion. It is just not intellectually honest to ignore the connections. The Planned Parenthood website proclaims that one in three American women by the time they are 45 have had at least one abortion and we know some have had several. That is a shocking statistic. If women are about half the population or around 150 Mil, a third of that is what? Shocking statistic. This also explains why people are so emotional about it- if a third of the women have had them, how many men do you think encouraged them? Will all those please raise your hand.
They also indicate that an overwhelmingly large portion of that is women in their 20s- who by virtue of age don't have established careers, likely have little or no education, or advanced post high school education or are trying to pursue it and believe a pregnancy would interrupt it, and who have no financial safety back up net sufficient to support a child in their minds in all probability. The fact that young women who believe they are incapable or ill prepared financially to have and raise a child (alone often) is a huge motivating feature of abortions. The statistics tell us that and anecdotal evidence strongly supports it. It stands to reason that If your boyfriend dumped you and left you for dead with the Family court child support payment chase your only recourse, you are more likely to consider terminating a pregnancy than someone on a trust fund whose income stream and education isn't threatened by a pregnancy.

That is why issues about women's educational advancement and poverty are so intricately tied to reducing abortions that they have to be policy concerns. That is also why anyone who champions just dumping the entire Department of Education sounds off his rocker to most people.

Planned Parenthood is all too ready to convince a girl at $350-$700 a 'procedure' that they have an easy way out of their 'problem.' Planned Parenthood
uses psychologically coercive techniques that advance their bottom line- and anyone who had experience in their management and left disgusted will tell you that. It is a corporate strategy involving numbers crunching.

Not only do we have to make the social structures conduscive to women wanting to have their children by taking away the sort of despiration that makes them vulnerable to that sort of manipulative persuasion, but we have to really stop what amounts to deceptive trade practices of Planned Parenthood- which is really planned Non Parenthood.

That is why we need to (a) de-incentivize any corporate structure from committing abortions that would unduly influence someone for their own profit under the guise of 'health care' and (b) decouple the entire contraception debate and offer it free elsewhere.

Planned Parenthood's deceptions expand into their definitions- when they say "emergency contraception" they actually mean an abortofascient morning after pill or Plan B. I suppose Plan A should have been wait until the ring and someone says "you may now kiss the bride." Morning after pills are not classically 'contraceptive' because they operate to stop a fertilized embryo from implanting in the uterine wall sometimes- and that is an after the fact chemical abortion.
But regular contraceptions, like condoms, and women's contraceptions should be made available as a public health precaution- and the argument should be decoupled from the anti abortion debate. They logically net each other out in some respects.

The Catholic Information Center this evening at 6:00 pm is hosting a panel discussion on the HHS Mandate and the Catholic church's objections which should be lively. All are welcome. You may get kicked out if you say something extreme but all are welcome I imagine. Hopefully no video cameras in the place to out heretics.

The Reverend Jesse on the Poor

Many Are Like Romney -- "Not Concerned" About The Very Poor

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By : Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.

Source: Weekly Column | Chicago Sun-Times

Last week, Mitt Romney created a firestorm for saying that “I’m not concerned about the very poor.” Romney later explained that he “misspoke,” and that he’d said something “similar to that, but quite acceptable, for a long time.”

The real problem isn’t that it misstates Romney’s concerns, but that it accurately states our bipartisan political consensus. Romney’s “gaffe” states a central truth: This nation shows too little concern about the poor.

The rich rulers in high places show amazing indifference to the poor while commercializing a religion that is rooted in a poverty-stricken Jesus. Jesus’ mission was to preach good news to the poor, heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free. Too many of those in power are woefully silent about the predicament of the poor.

One in three Americans is in poverty or classified as low income. More than 17 million children live in a household that is “food insecure,” the technical term for going hungry.

One out of every 45 children — 1.5 million in all — is homeless. Of the industrial nations, the U.S. lags in ensuring that poor children get a fair start with adequate nutrition, prenatal care, stable housing and high-quality education.

Most poor people, contrary to what Newt Gingrich might think, are working. When the poor finish high school and can’t afford college, they join the military and perform risky work for America. Unfortunately, many soldiers come home to foreclosure, unemployment and no health care. Hospital workers wipe our brows, clear our bedpans and change our beds when we are sick. They work every day that they can. They take the early bus. They work in minimum-wage and subminimum-wage jobs that can’t lift a family out of poverty.

The poor are Appalachian coal miners who work without adequate safety protections. They are veterans who return victorious from wartime battlefields to face defeat in economic crossfires. The poor tend our children, mow our lawns. They clean up the hotel rooms that Romney and Gingrich sleep in. But the poor can’t afford adequate health care, stable housing, or to send their kids to college.

Yet neither party “concerns” itself with the very poor. They tend not to vote. They can’t afford lobbyists. They don’t make campaign contributions. Even as poverty spreads, politicians in both parties talk about the middle class.

We need targeted intervention by our federal government to provide jobs for our people — an FDR-like program that hires our youth, our returning soldiers, our chronically unemployed.

The last president to express real concern about the poor was Lyndon Johnson. He launched the War on Poverty. By raising the minimum wage, launching jobs programs, extending welfare for poor mothers and children, aiding poor schools, expanding food stamps and Medicare, building affordable housing, Johnson made dramatic strides in reducing poverty.

When Ronald Reagan came in, he painted a dishonest picture of welfare mothers living high on the state. He slashed taxes on the wealthy, doubled the military budget in peacetime and sought to slash poverty programs.

Ironically, the more both parties talk about the middle class, the more the middle class declines. The decline of the minimum wage and of labor unions contributed to declining wages. Good jobs were shipped abroad. College was priced out of the reach of more and more families. Health care costs soared.

Romney said the poor had a safety net, but he would “fix it” by shredding it. He and Gingrich promise more top-end tax cuts, more military spending and less government spending, requiring savage cuts in programs for the poor from aid to poor schools, prenatal care for mothers, Pell grants for college students, affordable housing and more.

Conservatives argue that America is a Christian nation, but these realities offend the faith. Jesus embraced his mission to “preach good news to the poor.” He would judge us by how we treated the “least of these.”

A National Treasure

of Three Countries.

Diana Villiers Negroponte, JD, PHD. is a National Treasure of the US where she resides and has been a Senior Fellow at Brookings, with a Georgetown PHD and law degree from American University. She is also a National Treasure of Great Britain, has a degree from the London School of Economics (LSE) and speaks with an accent befitting Royalty. She has taught at Fordham in New York and at Georgetown. She is also now a National Treasure of El Salvador and great friend of that country to hear the El Salvadoran Embassy people speak about her and her great contribution to and love of their country's peace following the brutal civil war. Her new book, "Seeking Peace in El Salvador: The Struggle to Reconstruct a Nation at the End of the Cold War" is now available and promises to be a peacemaking primer for those who study peacebuilding. This evening at the World Affairs Council in Washington, she spoke of the history of the horrors of that civil war that brought a lot of immigration to this country as people fled the daily horrors of violent brutality that victimized obscene numbers of the population. She spoke of the role of ONUSAL, the UN peacekeeping observer group that tried to keep a fragile peace that is being undermined by the drug gang violence. She spoke most movingly of the history of the assassination of the Archbishop Romero who was targetted after he instructed people to violate army orders and not shoot their compatriots and the shooting of the six Jesuit martyrs and their housekeeper and her daughter which mobilized an American Congressman from Massachusetts to demand answers. She said she shows the movie "Romero" to all her students. I agree, its a must see.
Dr. Negraponte is an extremely impressive diplomat who has worked through civil systems as humbly as astutely, giving of herself to Habitat for Humanity in Mexico building homes, the Salvation Army's efforts in various Central American places and on church related missions in El Salvador. Extremely impressive woman.
She should be on the short list for Secretary of State - in any of at least three countries.

Non Profits

That are hugely profitable.

Why is Planned Parenthood a Non Profit organization exempt from federal taxes and state taxes in all the states where they operate? Clearly they are not 'non partisan' as they are favored, funded and promoted by democrats who unabashedly rally to their defense in the name of women's health.

If Planned Parenthood actually paid taxes on the billions of dollars it earns doing abortions, the federal government could use that money to open free clinics that do not do abortions or coerse abortions to actually do mammograms (planned parenthood does not do them) and other vital health and prevention services for women free of charge.

PP now has a monopoloy on free women's health- and it is raking in billions doing it. Does anyone see a problem with this? Whether you are or are not for contraception (and it is estimated that over 80% of even catholic women have used it) you have to admit this is a pretty funny money situation when one organization profits billions of dollars off abortions, has a monopoly on all the other free women's health care in this country, is the largest abortion provider simulteneously, and is so tied into the Democratic Party that every time its funding is threatened most the entire Democratic women's congressional leadership starts shouting bloody hell (which it is- really bloody hell.)

There needs to be free government provided clinics that offer health services for women that are not abortion related or abortion promoting. And someone needs to look at the Non Profit status of Planned Parenthood.

Nearly half the pregnancies in New York city end up in death- 41% --can you imagine the ghosts floating around the place? Where do all the fetus' parts go???

An Industry

That Feeds Off Death and Body Parts.

Sounds gruesome? Like something out of a horror movie. It is.
There have been sixty million abortions roughly since they were legalized. Abortions cost between
$300-$700 depending on the stage of development. Lets say on average $500. to kill off your growing heart beating infant in utero. Do the math. 60 Mil times 500 is what? My calculator does not have that many zeros. 35 billion? This is a BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY people.

The industry buys politicians. Flat out purchases wholesale their loyalty. It has bought off the entire Democratic Party and fed them such a line you wonder how any of them made it through college much less the laudable institutions of higher learning they represent.

It is a commercial enterprise based on exploitation of women under the mind-F of "free choice."
Look at yourselves.

Do the Math

Avoid the Political Firestorm Fallout

If ever there were a doubt that the whole Democratic women's 'establishment' favor funding of abortions it came out in their statement sent via mass email that they were happy that the Komen funding decision was reversed. Because the money going to Planned Parenthood is not specifically anywhere earmarked, restricted or alloted for preventing cancer. Planned Parenthood
comits abortions. They do not medically advise on cancer issues- they tell the inquiring person where to go- literally. They do 'mammogram referals' which means a girl calls saying I found a lump, can I get a mammogram and the receptionist (not a doctor) looks at the list in front of them and tells them the two nearest hospitals or services that do provide mammograms. So the Komen money is not going toward cancer prevention. GET SERIOUS.

Shouldn't the government now be looking at funding clinics that actually do that? Wouldn't that be awesome. Instead of having to go to GW hospital and paying $2,000 out of pocket if you are not insured for a five second ultrasound reading of a breast lump, or a mammogram you could get one at a free government clinic. The defunct closing post offices provide ideal space, already owned by the government to set up such clinics. And while they are at it, how about free dental clinics for the poor. Do you have any idea how many elderly are walking around without their teeth in this country because they cannot afford to get implants or proper dental care so don't see dentists for years???

Why are there no cost studies on comparing what the government can do itself in health care with its own facilities (it has it for Vets like Walter Reed and Vet hospitals, why not free health clinics for other people) where there is actual accreditation, auditing and accountability going on and standards of care and hygiene are met and there is no monetary incentive to coerce abortions. If there is such a public health system, and no monetary incentives to coerce abortions, then fewer and fewer will use it as birth control because there will not be the kind of psychological manipulation and dulling of natural conscience surrounding the issue. If abortions were not so profitable do you think there would have been sixty million of them? What little girl do you know grows up and says I want to have an abortion? Society has in the last forty years desensitized the conscience to make sex more acceptable outside marriage and in an irresponsible manner detached from one's natural biology. Who do you think profits from this
set of confluent influences? Why in the world would the government want to be duplicitous in it?
Set up free women's health clinics that actually do serve the underserved in real clinics, not fronts for abortion mills.

Chris Matthews

Have You Been Inside a Planned Parenthood Clinic?

Andrea Mitchell did not get her breast cancer detected or treated in one I bet.
This woman has been in a Planned Parenthood Clinic- in fact she was the Director of one of the largest ones around Texas A&M:

http://www.unplannedthebook.com/

She realized what was happening- and determined to tell about it. They actually sued her for it to make her shut up. They run a propaganda intimidation machine that would make Goering proud.

Their money is off psychologically coercing abortions. Whether you need one or not. or really want one or not.
This game has to be up.

Everything Done in Darkness

Will Be Brought in the Light.

Why is Planned Parenthood such a secretive organization that has intimidated an entire party of people into paying for it? Why do they fear 'undercover' exposes such as those recently done in Los Angeles and elsewhere where stings of underage girls were brought in for abortions and coverups for prostitution rings exposed. Why do they not want people to be able to do full inspections and audits. If they get one cent of federal money, the government should have a right to go in and audit and inspect what they are doing. Why don't we see any happy testimonials anywhere saying "I visited planned parenthood as I didn't have money to get any gynocological services and they gave me a full pap smear, ultrasound breast exam, mammogram, and did blood work up." Because they don't people.
Legitimate health care services like those above for women are necessary, laudable, and should be performed by free clinics-that do not do abortions or coerce abortions.
It is shocking that the Democratic Women's Club and all Democratic party platform people are so hoodwinked by the propaganda of this organization. Shocking. We are supposed to be smarter than that ladies.
Have you realized lots of those aborted babies are girls? How healthy is that for them?

I Defy

Barbara Boxer

to go into any Planned Parenthood in the country and try to get a 'screening' for breast cancer.
Find ONE Planned Parenthood that can ultrasound a lump. If they had the ultrasound to examine a lump, then they have an obligation morally to use it on every fetus that floats in the door.

What 'screening.' WHAT A SCAM LADIES.

Planned Parenthood is not your local clinic or local gyno doctor. They are an abortion MILL.
THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER.
If you want legitimate health free services why doesn't the federal government fund mammograms in pregnancy centers? Planned Parenthood DOES NOT DO MAMMOGRAMS. They 'refer' people elsewhere asking for them. What is Komen paying for?

And under the guise of 'health care.' This is the biggest fraud on the public running. A billion dollars worth. If the federal government wants to be in the women's health care business then let the federal government turn every post office that they want to shut down into a woman's health clinic that is a real clinic not an abortion mill. It would be cheaper than what they waste now
on the Planned Non Parenthood.
And don't get me started on psychologically coercive abortions. What a sick twisted culture that would have anyone aborting a child because that culture can't figure out a way to be supportive of single mothers in all ways single mothers need to be supported.

This game has got to be up. These abortion politicians have done more harm to the women's movement than any group of people because conflating women's equality with the 'right' to 'terminate' your offspring- e.g. dismember your infants in utero, has totally undermined the legitimate aspirations for women's equality in this country.

The Resurrection and Long Range Planning For The Long View

And The Life

There is a predominant view that this is not all there is- that the hundred or so years that one moves around planet earth (if you are lucky) are not the end. There is a life after this- and the catholic view of the world is that there is a resurrected body. Something like the physical matter you currently inhabit which gets buried in the ground is reconstituted spiritually in another form of a body that has cognizeable individuality recognizeable to your loved ones as you. Jesus when he appeared after he died came back as himself, not in a borrowed body or a ghostly apparation but his body, holes and all. It was him- dead then resurrected in a resurrected body. There is a 'beatific vision' of this holy city on a hill in paradise where the resurrected bodies live somewhere in another dimension of space/time or another.

In the Catholicism series of Father Barron (ten part DVD set I highly recommend if you are wondering why anyone would stay catholic) there is an interesting surmise regarding what this body might be like- it might be as if we have a two dimensional representation here and now, and that is transmorphed into a three D body in an effluence of energy (sort of...have to watch the dvd to get it) the same way as if you look at a flat triangle on a piece of paper that gets lifted into a pyramid. The triangle is within the pyramid's expression but the fullness of the triangle in a more expansive form is a pyramid.

Consequently, the attributes of the physicality of a person in catholic theology have identity with eternal consequences. Think about that for a minute. There are verses in old/first testament scripture in which the Lord is attributed with saying things like "I knew you before you were born in your mother's womb."
He had the DNA mapped. He knew what you were going to over the fullness of time become. And our journey is complete ending with him. He wants us back to him.

So catholics believe that every conception is an act of God's Will. And every interuption of it a thwarting or defiance of it or rebellion against it. This is what they teach and believe. Strongly. So strongly you can get kicked out of places if you voice disagreement. You should not want to interfere with God's will, because it brings only disaster and pain.

So if catholic institutions have to by some government mandate pay for abortofascients or provide abortion payments through tax dollars or insurance premiums even provide contraception, then that is viewed as forcing them to condemn themselves violating God's will. That I gather is the hooplah with the HHS mandate. Catholic institutions would rather not violate God's will where it comes to life and death issues. It matters more than political parties.
It is deeply founded in their theology.

I am as exasperated as the next guy that every election cycle it seems the Bishops dredge up some issue to tilt elections toward Republicans. But I do see a possible freedom of religion issue in forcing people to violate their religious principles here from a constitutional perspective. I believe you have to understand the root of the theology to appreciate it.

Constitutionally then the issue becomes what is the counterveiling public health benefit and why should the government's measures trump any freedom of religion concern. The Pope himself has said contraception helps stop the spread of AIDS. That analysis takes place whenever someone is claiming that their first amendment freedoms are being infringed upon by the government. No one is arguing that pregnancy is a disease. They are arguing that the diseases one can get by unprotected sex are thwarted by the government's measure and the government has a duty to enact measures that protect public health.

How Bought

Are You

Allyson Schwartz- who gets a lot of her campaign funding from pro 'choice' type orgs like Emily's List and Planned Parenthood as do all pro choice politicians who want to keep the funding going for planned parenthood on all levels. (its a bit of a ponzi scheme but don't tell them)

Ms Schwartz was recently highlighted on MSNBC Chris Matthews show to applaud Komen reversing their defunding decision. Because she gets paid by Planned Parenthood.

Thanks Ms. Schwartz for helping make bad boys turn into sick bastards with unlimited abortion availability and misappropriated funding under the guise of "health care" for women when NO MAMMOGRAMS are performed anywhere in any Planned Parenthood clinic.

This is all so twisted I can't believe no one has actually looked at where the campaign funds come from for these 'pro choice' democrats and published it all over the place.

Thanks for turning bad boys into sick bastards ladies.

Any More

Dumb Questions?

Today I was stopped on the street on the corner of 16th and L in DC (near the Planned Parenthood) with some reporter and a news camera who stopped me asked me the following "Do I think the Komen decision to reverse the Planned Parenthood funding was political."

What a question. How could it not be?
Komen is against breast cancer and giving money to an organization that denies that it has anything to do with generating breast cancer by disrupting dramatically normal hormonal cycles through artificial pharmaceutical contraceptions and abortions. Why is Komen giving five cents to Planned Parenthood- this billion dollar corporation?

Look at Cecile Richards response to their so called "apology" in reversal.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/03/susan-g-komen-planned-parenthood_n_1252651.html?1328286773&icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl4%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D132483

Note she says they do "mammagram referrals." THEY DO NOT DO MAMMAGRAMS.
Other 'clinical breast exams' involve anyone not necessarily licensed for anything poking to see if you may have lumps which you can figure out yourself.

The way that you tell if you actually have breast cancer is with a biopsy of a lump or a mammogram. If Planned Parenthood is not qualified to do either why is Komen giving them a penny? It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars for someone to answer the phone and tell you that you need to go to the hospital down the street for that?? Before they give any more grant allocations to Planned Non Parenthood, they should see what the dollars are spent on- or I don't know why anyone in their right mind would put on their pink sneakers and Walk for the Cure when it funds the Disease.

RIDICULOUS. Anderson Cooper? Where are you with your Ridiculist???

Romney- For Bankruptcy Trustee

Romney's strategy at Bain was often to drive companies into bankruptcy after taking them to market in IPOs that netted his company and him personally hundreds of millions of dollars. It is a gimmicky form of capitalism that poses as turn around artistry. Anyone who is fooled by it should study what Bain did with actual companies- or google/You-Tube John Stewart. He is not the kind of person who cares for the little guy. And he gives a rat's A about 'the poor.'

He went on 'mission' to Northern France for crying out loud. That's because at the time that he went on Mission, his church banned any blacks/African Americans from joining the church at all- they were allegedly agents of Satan-and that is why they have black skin allegedly. That is what Mitt was taught was biblical truth and that is what he missionized around Northern France.

Also, has anyone noticed that "Bain" is not Romney's name? That is because Bain is the name of someone else who started the company that Romney actually worked for initially- and after a few serious fraud allegations around the world were investigated concerning some of their partners
Romney took off with other partners and formed another version of Bain, which is not the original Bain. Google it- Wikepedia it. Anyone doing serious opposition research on Romney should discover how he and other partners of the initial Bain after fraud allegations concerning deals in England and elsewhere split from the first Bain founders (including the guy actually who is named Bain) to do business their way- which while Romney was there looked to the casual observer borderline fraudulent in terms of how they approached companies with their alleged turn around strategy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bain_Capital It looks like the first partners at Bain & Co , who are not the partners at Bain Capital, kicked Romney and others out of the partnership after the Guiness and other fiascos where major governmental investigations were launched. Has he addressed that? Who is going to ask him what happened there?

Another quasi-fraudulent sounding refrain of Romney's presentation is that he keeps saying he did not inherit his father's money. Technically probably correct- his father was still alive when he gave him investment capital and routed his friends to give him investment capital. If your dad kickstarts your equity investment career by giving your partnership millions of dollars that is technically not 'inheriting' money. But we get it. He is not 'self-made' hot off the mission field as a poor missionary who stumbled onto a Harvard JD/MBA and launched a private equity career on his own. His daddy helped him and that's why he likely was invited into the game.

You have to have your head examined if you think that Romney is a good man for the country.

Deceptive, sneaky, and there is no excuse for someone who can pay the best accountants he can find to not file all the appropriate forms to comply with tax and reporting requirements.
Off shore accounts have been held by people like him precisely to avoid tax liabilities-

The Poor

Blessed Are...

But Romney doesn't care about the Poor. So he says.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/#46227253

Jesus does however. A lot.

(another telling reason you know his theology isn't quite Christian. Christian theology teaches -in so much as you do TO THE LEAST OF THESE my brethren, you do it to me. Mormons-that's another story)

Romney writes off the Poor. Jesus elevates them. They all have the same human dignity Romney has and the only difference between them and him is money.

« Individu ou personne : quelles
conséquences dans l’univers de l’entreprise ? » Individual or Person:
Consequences for Corporate ManagementThe conference will be held in
French, with English interpretation (during the following Q&A, questions can
be asked in English)PresentationOn one hand companies
are inclined to manage their employees as individuals (contracts, incentives,
performance evaluations, bonuses, individual dismissals)... On other hand,
companies have discovered the productivity gains that can arise from
interpersonal relationships (team-building, project teams, work-life balance).
Beyond words, the distinction between “individual” and “person” refers to
contrasting conceptions of Man, his purpose and his development. Designed as an
individual, Man develops his own identity and his innate abilities, given from
the outset, as the acorn becomes an oak. And according to classical and
neoclassical economics, individuals are rational and independent, and optimize
their behavior to maximize their own welfare. Depending on the conception of Man
at work in companies, corporate management can vary from simply coordinating
individuals, to enabling full cooperation among individuals.Adopting a
historical perspective of the concepts of "individual" and "person", Roger

unique light on current issues of corporate management.Baudoin

"I Desire Love, Not Sacrifice."

Thus, when you replace Love with Sacrifice you make an idol of theology over God himself.

It is as if you prefer to spend a lifetime analyzing a photograph of person rather than actually meeting them.

God is Love.

It is very admirable to analyze photographs. But which do you think allows you to know the person better? This is why forbidding all marriage in priesthood is a silly heresy.

To use the beauty of the photograph to justify it- even sillier.

And this is precisely why we have a First Amendment in this country- people who believe that may not be persecuted by any religion. One man's heretic is another man's Saint.
