The original name of the Town was Mrye which has been modernized and anglicized to be Myrna. Currently it is Demre in Turkey. His remains were later removed to Bari Italy as secreted by Italian sailors. His original tomb is still in Turkey.
So you will sometimes hear him called Saint Nicolas of Bari. Same guy.
Also the same guy who resides somewhere north of The North Pole. Would that make the Dominicans elves? (See, the Good Bishop entry below.)
