Liberal Jerk
I do happen to agree with the recent Federal ruling that the mandatory imposition of health insurance premiums is unconstitutional. I don't know how you get over forcing someone to buy any private product of anything and where the line is drawn-especially if you don't put any caps on the product pricing. It was an insurance boondoggle in the name of universal health care coverage.
I know people who abuse their bodies. Don't you? I know people who have smoked like chimneys, ate like every day was Thanksgiving, and as a result their bodies bear the scars of their abuse. Some people self medicate with food and are as big as a car. Why should everyone bear the burden of others' bad health by forcing everyone to buy into insurance -pay money- at prices dictated by a private company. 0r- demonstrate that they could not afford it thus lump themselves in the public welfare lot just to pay for everyone else's sloth and gluttony.
The car insurance mandate does not hold water- you always have the option of not having a car and riding buses and metros and trains or walking. Ever hear of that lost sport? You can't not have your body if you don't want to buy the insurance.
Sorry. If this was the centerpiece of the health care reform- terribly sorry- back to the etch-a-sketch board.
